Turns out machine guns are pretty poor at knocking these suckers down but footballs work well. Having seen plenty of people buzzed with drones fitted out with Go Pros I am thinking there is a market opportunity here for someone to develop some sort of airborne drone interceptor, maybe outfitted with a shotgun to blast it with BB's when you get close enough.

Cool video. Looks like a lot of fun.
Because those drones are so simple, a bullet doesn't have much effect on it. You'd need some kind of explosive round to make much larger holes/remove large chunks to bring them down.
Even with real planes most bullet strikes do little to no damage that affects the flying of the plane. Only when you hit something vital is it a problem.
Tamiya makes a 1/16 scale Gepard.
You could probably cobble together some kind of semi-guided interceptor missile from an estes rocket kit and some piezo-electric actuators that either move small vanes below the exhaust or gimble the motor mount. Include an infra-red proximity detector from a cheap home security kit wired to a small explosive charge propelling a big wad of fine-wire netting and you might have yourself a nice little interceptor.
And probably a visit from the DHS.

This thread has probably been visited by DHS a few 100 times already.
Please, gentlemen. You're making me nervous. Old Bessy hasn't done anything to offend anyone.
Actually, Ol' Bessie might come in handy as a detection platform for other drones.
Hmm... She wouldn't by chance have enough lift to carry a laser designator, now would She?
i go for the Gepard 8)
well the easiest (and cheapest) way to get the airspace over your property drone-free is ECM >:D
saturate the GPS and com chancels and it will go into fail-save mode (so it either rise straight in the air until GPS is back and return to home in that altitude and drops slowly until landing gear reports weight and shut off ...that what i would program into it, ...or flight/drift straight away and will crashes somewhere with an object)
next evaluational step is automatic optical tracking (astronomy hobby gear /telescope with CCD) and so pointing a laser-pointer to blind / damage the cam
I expect nothing less from MikeGER :)
I still think the best way to shoot down a drone is a better faster armed drone or rc plane. Since I can't find one for sale on the internet I think there is a great business opportunity here
Though a gepard would be very cool as we'll

Great idea!
Only to make it better put an actual human in each to give them better response time... oh wait...
