Dedicated to MD and Star and their love of the jovi!
I shall be playing elite, and when not doing that I shall be recarthaging the med in eu4, and expanding Danish territories in N:TW
Have a great weekend everyone
Space Rangers HD and the Sovereignty beta. I finally got into Hearthstone, so some of that, as well.
Not alot this weekend.
Army reunion tonight (for early arrivers)
Army reunion tomorrow (proper)
That leaves Sunday...mostly R&R, but I expect I might find some time for painting my Challenger II (well, weathering) and likely try and play some Steel Beasts Pro...if not that, then some mindless blowing shit up like Bioshock:Infinite or perhaps ARMA III or even back to Crysis 3...bloody hell, or even Splinter Cell (latest PC one whatever it's called)
WoT and CTGW, still not touched a lot of my newer games :(
Surprisingly I'm really digging ETW vanilla despite the brain dead AI. :idiot2:
Maybe some Steel Beasts and a new airport project in X-Plane
Well, I just read where the developers of Endless Legend hope to have a new build out by the end of the day that will include new factions, new victory conditions, and possibly the tutorial. That will get a lot of my time if it makes it.
If work does not continue to get in the way, hope to have time to try the new beta of elite.....
You are a mean, mean geek...er...um...Geek. Bon Jovi?! At least I will know the description to give to TSA, "British, with a horrible mullet, a fringe covered jacket and smells like New Jersey." Bon Jovi! HA!!
Still trying to figure out if my friend is getting Warlock: Master of the Arcane or I am getting Warlock 2: The Exiled. I'm sure there will be some Civ IV BtS MP. And for those of you looking to migrate your Civ IV to Steam for MP, it's very easy and 2K Support has been very helpful.
Some CTGW PBEM and continue with my first play through of The Enemy Within expansion for XCOM on iron man mode. The expansion makes the game so much tougher! So far I have lost a colonel (ouch), major (double ouch), and lieutenant along with a truckload of rookies whereas I have made it through the entire base game on iron man (normal difficulty) with only a couple of losses.
Two weeks of vacation start this afternoon or whenever I get fed up with work today! O0
Lots of home/yard work to do during that time but there will be gaming!
CiV mega campaign as the US to finish.
Unconditional Surrender on the table to play and maybe do some AARing for.
Also need to re-arrange the man cave to better use the space and make room for super gaming table that might get worked on as well.
Other than that, I'm sitting next to my pool with a beer in my hand and playing stuff on my iPad in the sun. :)
Think I might finally delve into Drums of War, and Heroes of Stalingrad tonight & this weekend.
Finish my EUIV game as Sweden. Currently rebuilding after getting my ass handed to me by a combined alliance of France, Russia, Hansa, and Pomerania. Britain my only ally sat and did nothing. Their 50000 man army just sitting in England. Must say the AI of EUIV surprises me sometimes with just how good it can be on occasion.
Play some Planetside 2, still the best free FPS shooter around. Nothing like launching an airborne assault with 50 of your clan mates jettisoning over the target.
Might start some AGEOD Civil WAR II or the old/new WWI centennial game.
Vacation starts today, so we are heading to NYC at 6am to visit Stepson... So no real gaming for me this weekend.. Think we're back Wednesday.. let the gaming begin!
Commander The Great War PBEM...Shelldrake is pummeling me again, but the other guy I am playing in a separate game (don't know who it is) is making me feel better about myself. Enjoying a Civ V African colonial campaign too...love building railroads! Maybe start a new SCWWI Kut campaign. And with tgb's news on Endless Legend, will want to check that out as well.
Off to see Guardians of the Galaxy first thing after which I will become Guardian of the Grass-Mowing and Guardian of the Pool-Cleaning. Whatever time is left will be used expanding the German Confederation in Rome 2 and bragging here about seeing Guardians of the Galaxy ahead of all of you. Happy August Grogs. :)
- Getting an introduction primer to Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis IV & Victoria II
- Getting reacquainted with medieval tactics with old Medieval Total War II (Gus was right, starting to show its age)
Continuing a Spartan campaign in Rome II Total War and perhaps some Divinity Original Sin.

Vacation looms as well. Maybe looms is the wrong image. It should be fun, right? Millions of kids and relatives! Maybe a bit of sailing on the Atlantic.
But I still have this Weekend! Before Vacation! And I will be doing the current usual:
Civil war II (Grant has arrived. The Confederates did not take Pittsburg or Leavenworth or even Harper's Ferry!)
WITPAE PBEM (I have this horrible feeling the KB is going to turn up somewhere horrible)
HG (Driving a tank has so many advantages for me:
1) snipers don't kill me
2) my multiple MGs will kill Germans in theory
3) my clutzy button-pushing gives me time to think instead just getting me killed
4) I seem to be able to kill German tanks
5) I CANNOT BE RUN OVER by kubelwagons)
Hoplites -- Fun with boardgames
Fighting Wings -- trying to have fun with airplanes in boardgames

Seen it last night...SUPERB!
While I always liked Bon Jovi this is the 'Lay your hands on me' that I was thinking of:
I loved the Thompson Twins!
This weekend will be more of Star Ruler 2, still learning the game mechanics. Its very different, but I think I like it :smitten:
And then there is Elite Dangerous. Trying to figure out how to make some money in the solo universe. I just got jumped by an AI in the same ship as me (starter) and showed him some pure dog fighting, man I love this game O0
Steel Beasts Pro :knuppel2:

Probably the latest updates to Making History The Great War and Endless Legends, both downloading as I type...
you guys ought to be checking out the new GARPA on the front page instead of humming 80s hair metal lyrics to each other ;)
Making History The Great War and Far Cry 3.
TCT how are you liking the Spartan campaign? It's either Sparta or Macedon next for me.
Well, I've got the entirety of next week off and very little in the way of plans. So gaming it shall be!
Wolfenstein continues to entertain, and I'll be trying to finish that. I also need to jump back into Battleblock Theatre and keeping playing Battle Academy as well. And perhaps start something new?
On the table, I've had another run of trade and BGG auction acquisitions arrive, so I'll be making my way through the pile. And I still need a storage solution for the collector's edition of Duel of Ages II, and for the small mountain of Heroscape which I've been picking up. Yes, that actually does sound interesting to me. Yes, I have a problem. :idiot2:
Heroscape is the bomb-shizzle of "WTF" tabletop gaming :)

I busted out what I had the last time my nephew was here. His mind was blown. Also a great choice for a beer n' gaming type of night.
As of today, I have 6 master sets and something like 8 expansion sets. It's getting stupid. ;D
Steel Beasts Pro multi-player, when I can peel away for a good long time. O0
Got some new goodies to bust out on the table too.

So far its been alot of fun. I'm trying an experiment and keeping a campaign journal of sorts that if all goes well I might turn into an AAR.

I loved the Thompson Twins!
One of the greatest songs of all time.
Oh, almost forgot...Elite, Civ IV and maybe some NTW.
Dota 2
We just lost a game we should have won. The enemy team had a Phantom Lancer who really knew what he was doing. By the end of the game he had an army of illusions and his push was insane. I actually laned against him, mid, as Viper and got a couple of early kills, but as soon as he came online there was nothing we could do. It didn't help that we had a Pudge who didn't land a single hook that I saw, and a Lion who died more than anyone else in the game. Bah.
I'm stuck on what I think is the last level of Mag-Runner so I'm hoping to crack that. I'm also playing Xenonauts and cursing the jump-suit cladded morons serving as my foot sloggers.

I saw the Thompson Twins live back in 85. They were blown off the stage by their opening band...OMD. None the less, I still like T3.
Big surprise but I'll be playing
CKII all weekend. I've gone so far as to Ebay some stuff around the house so I could pick up some of the DLC without going over my gaming budget.
Distant Worlds AAR
Xenonauts - Starting yet another new game. Damn this game is tough. I'm making it a little farther every attempt, but I don't think I'm remotely close to actually winning the fight against the alien scum.
Skyrim - I tried switching from Nexus Mod Manager to Mod Organizer by the STEP team this week. Why people think its better then NMM is beyond me. The only thing that's even close to being better is that it doesn't affect your vanilla data folder. I uninstalled it less then an hour after install. Now I get to rebuild my install with NMM..again.
Command - More Red Storm Rising scenario work.
I'm really really REALLY tempted to buy into the Elite beta, but $75 is a bit much to throw down for a beta.
I'm going to commit to some Scourge of War, but that's all for now.
Oh, and Morrowind. I've been spending a bit more time with it and I'm starting to get a more drawn in than previous attempts.
Gentleman who designed Heroscape (met him at the GenCon in the photos) has a background in history.
He deliberately smuggled in the knights, Romans, and continentals, and was hoping to do some French Imperial Guard before the system was shut down.
The spooky thing is that, although the turns get long, the system is so simple it doesn't break in the mega-games. Tribute, I think, to the design.
Best,
Jim
"Cyrano"
:/7)
I'll mostly be playing the Sovereignty beta this weekend, with hopefully some Pandora: First Contact and maybe a little Rome II on the side.
I don't have quite enough stuff to make THOSE levels... ;D
Succeeded in finishing my second cup as the Amazons in Blood Bowl; will begin writing up and posting Season Two of the AAR next. (Which shouldn't take nearly as long as Season One as I don't have any prologue material per se. Yet. >:D )
A weekend of:
Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm - playing a PBEM with a fellow SB:ProPE VU member. We are playing his first PBEM in it, sticking with 2.03 as we started that way;
Ilya Muromets - the Rise of Flight spinoff in Beta. Getting to grips with the big and poorly-armed bomber and trying out some missions from the included campaign;
IL2 Battle of Stalingrad - the other Rise of Flight spinoff, checking out the new controversial FW-190;
Rise of Flight - I've been getting used to the flight quirks of the Gotha and want to fly a cross-Channel strike on England, as well as trying out the newly released Hanriot;
DCS World - Belsimtek Sabre - still getting used to this lovely aircraft, helped by some useful community video tutorials.
A flight-sim heavy weekend, during a golden age in flight sims!

Hoplites -- Fun with boardgames
Fighting Wings -- trying to have fun with airplanes in boardgames
So what happened? I put away almost all the board games. The exception is just a few planes chasing each other around. Easy to take down and put up.
My interest in HG seems to be declining -- it was (for me) a lot like visiting a nicely revised Battlefield 42. A wary visit. It was nice to see there still are games like that and the maps were very well done, but I think fooling with the editor in ARMAIII is more my speed these days.
The real fun surprise was Civil War II. It's quite an amazing game. The map is unbelievably good in every possible way. The AI -- well maybe I set it to crazy (I think I left it as close to "normal" as I could) -- but the war so far has been very wild and full of surprises. Fortunately, I didn't randomize the generals' stats so I have some idea who the good generals are, but (as the Federal Forces) even there there were some pleasant surprises.
1861 and early 1862 were pretty hard for the Feds. For a while, foreign intervention looked very very likely. It has been a tough fight with no easy end in sight. It's Oct 1862 and the Feds are starting to do better. Richmond is probably going to fall as the AI realizes the rail lines to Richmond are all cut in two or three places and holding on to Petersburg isn't going to cut it. The Army of the Shenandoah is off near Pittsburg beating up McClellan and Astrocough. It was a bad idea in 1861 and its pure comedy in 1862. I think the AI plan there is to cut the Feds in two -- which if the British Empire joins in from Canada could be a mess -- but somebody needs to send Joe Johnson a telegram -- Hello, Joe, time to stop cutting that rail line before half the Confederacy is occupied.
The rail lines are everything in this game. Or at least so it seems to me. I could be a bit wrong since Grant is only now (six months late) taking Fort Donnellson and the Feds are nowhere near taking New Orleans.
