One of the most stunning achievements of 9-11 was how fast the air traffic control system put everyone on the ground. The "before" picture is around 0930 or so, with about 10,000 planes in the air nationwide. 60 minutes later, there were about 150 (the "after" picture), and most of them were circling runways waiting for other planes to clear so they could land.
In one hour, they put over nine thousand planes on the ground.

The story of Gander is one of the best stories to come out of 9-11. They tripled the size of the town when they dropped a few dozen intercontinental flights on that place, and the town opened their arms to everyone.

I saw an interesting and persuasive docu last night that suggests that molten aluminium from the airframe of the plane reacted with water from the sprinkler system causing the explosions unaccounted for by the official report. I thought it compelling evidence, and debunks the conspiracy theory about bombs being placed in the buildings (as the buildings were designed to withstand an air collision).

He'll be pretty disappointed with my link - 2 scientists, one a chemist, one a metallurgist both independently disproving the government bombs conspiracy theory.
They do cast doubt on the official report, but not in the way that it suggests that the US govt/Israel was behind the explosions. It's all about the aluminium fuselage melting at high temperatures, then contacting the water in the sprinkler system in the floors below. A chemical reaction resulting from the crash causing the explosions that were reported just before the collapse.
