...HELL (http://www.slitherine.com/games/hell_pc), a new turn-based strategy game developed using the very flexible Battle Academy engine, players will be able to lead the sacred human forces from the "Order of Light" or the infernal troops from the "Demons of Hell" faction. Every unit has a unique function on the battlefield so players will have to judiciously mix the unique abilities and specific strengths of their magic and military squads to be victorious. Diversity is the key word in HELL, and this is supported by a vast array of units, various types of terrain and environments, myriad layers of tactical options, a long story-driven campaign, and a devilish multiplayer mode with cross-platform functionality.

p.s.  and they're looking for Beta testers for it too.

Looks interesting. Thanks for the heads up Steve.

That's a much better fit than a historical wargame. Should be fun.

When I reviewed the first Battle Academy I noted that the lack of historical accuracy made it just as well suited to slap sci-fi graphics over it. Looks like I was about right.

You got me steve; hook, line and sinker.  Saw the subject line and thought to myself...uh-oh....a Matrix bashing thread. Well done!

That does look like fun, but like you mentioned, I rather have had them make a sci-fi wargame!  Lord, what do I have to do to get a dev to make a wargame version of Hammer's Slammers?!?  :knuppel2:

But give me a PC version!   :)

One other thing about Hell - it doesn't appear to take place in Hell.  I went to the site and based on the screenshots it appears to take place in just another generic fantasy setting.   >:(  The name is misleading.  Why call it Hell without...you know...hell?

If I recall, that review was very well received by the publisher.

I dunno...nothing in the screenshots really says "Heaven and Hell" to me. Just looks like another fantasy strategy game with knights and monsters.

Heh :)

I agree - looks like a bit more work before we see it, but the hard part is done: the game engine.

I have this. Played the hell out of it, too. Not much more depth to it than an entry-level Avalon Hill game, but, you know, hovertanks.
