Here's a test for all you free thinkers and First Amendment supporters, the Satanic Temple has submitted a coloring book and two fact sheets to the Orange County, Florida school district for approval to be distributed in county schools. Now, I am not a church goer, but, my personal belief is in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. And I gotta say, this disturbs me greatly. I do not have children of school age any more, but, if one of my kids came home with that, I'm not sure I could get to a school board member fast enough to ask them wtf was going on?! So, if the Temple gets their way, this HAS to be distributed in the schools. What would YOU do?

I'd say that's their point as well.
Doesn't look like they're trying to promote their beliefs but trying to force the district to stop allowing a Christian group from distributing bibles. It's screwed up when so called groups of very few individuals are allowed to push their believes on the majority.
While I can certainly understand challenging including mandatory, monotheistic religious observation in school, this is the Devil's church that is asking to be included. So, be as stout in your opposition to including prayer in school as you'd like, but, how happy will you be when Baphomet comes home with Billy and Janey's homework?

From what I found, there was nothing mandatory about what was done earlier this year. It was a table setup that students could approach on their own free will. It also didn't sound like they were the only group there.
Funny how the Satanists and the Atheists have teamed up on this. One claiming to be a religion and one that opposed to religion.

If you want a Christian prayer over the PA system, see if you'd like it if they did it for Islam. Or Satan, in this case. If you don't think you'd like that, it's probably not a good idea.

My initial, knee-jerk reaction is basically the same as yours. However, the more that I understand about the actual "Church of Satan" (as opposed to isolated packs of self-style Satan worshippers who do awful shit), the more I see them as somewhat ridiculous.

For that matter, I've always kinda wondered how American Jews feel about this subject. Is Christianity close enough to their beliefs that they're more-or-less okay with it? Or do they secretly think it's a Really Bad Idea (but are generally too polite to say something)? Or something else entirely? Are their opinions as divided as the rest of the public?
