Title: Is it live or memorex?
Post by: Smuckatelli on November 06, 2014, 05:09:16 PM
ONR ran a demonstration of an augmented reality training system. The Marine wears augmented reality glasses and an instructor places targets for the Marine to engage with virtual weapons. In the video there is a JTAC off screen to the left. The HDTV is showing what the Marine 'sees' with the glasses on, when the picture zooms in, he is using his binos. The area behind the HDTV is where the training is occurring.

The training area is Lejeune Field on Quantico, you can hear the JTAC giving his 9 line brief to the pilot. The JTAC sees a technical (virtual) on the field. The pilot flies a virtual Cobra and takes out the target. You can see where the JTAC looks up and sees the Cobra coming in.....
