Almost forgot. I may be a greek gentile but I'd like to wish all a Happy Hannukah. Chag urim sameach!
Happy Hannukah!
Merry Chanukah!
I say that with respect. I have good friends that are Jewish. I even let them do my taxes sometimes! :)
About 1/3 of my little niece's school class sang a (the?) spinning dreidle song last night at their end-of-season program.
While dressed as dreidles.
I'm pretty embarrassed that it took me a good minute and a half after they started to figure out wth... :)) O0 :smitten:
Shine your lights in the Feast of Dedications!
Happy Hanukkah!
and as with many Jewish traditions the story starts with a siege. (https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffc01.deviantart.net%2Fimages3%2Fi%2F2004%2F101%2F1%2Ff%2FCatapult_Emoticon.gif&hash=f2deb579baf527b843b342820a3507633ee0de9f)
And a hearty IO SATURNALIA to all!
We Roman pagans celebrate the festival of Saturn from December 17th up to Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, the birthday of the Unconquerable Sun, on December 25th :)
This is the time when we remember a golden age of plenty told in the old myths and celebrate a time of merry making, disrupting established rules and hierarchies, game playing, parties, feasting, drinking, relaxation and gift giving.
And here our fellow Romans from Provincia Britannia show us how they start this time of joy! ;)
IO SATURNALIA!!!

^^ I suspect that depends on what the numerical checksum tally at the end of the line and/or the scroll is supposed to be. :coolsmiley:
My son goes to a Catholic school. I keep trying to convince him what an awesome practical joke it would be for him to go one day wearing a yamaka, just to see what the teachers/admins do (if anything). I've been trying to teach him the hard, sh!tty consonant noises made from speaking Yiddish stereotypically so he can respond like that ("What, we don't get enough mistreatment from the Germans, you have to give me a hard time?")
So far, he's reluctant to execute.
I like you style.
in the run up to a childs Bar/Bat Mitvah you have to go to temple every Saturday for at least a year, Monday night school, Sunday school and language tutoring. its a fucking process.
the propeller beanie I wore for a month was not well received. O:-)
then again the shots of wine we grabbed while the service was going on really didnt make me give a shit.
I wore an armored chalice type yarmulke.
BC I would be happy to play a son of yours at the Catholic school.

Maybe nothing. There are Jewish Catholics after all; and a lot of the priestly vestments come from Judaism.
If they think he's getting into Jewish heritage, they might even ask for a class report. RCs and evangelical Protestants have been going back to Jewish roots a lot in the past several decades. (Not sure about mainline Prots or the Eastern Orthodox, though I get the impression the mainlines having been doing that, too.)
Exactly why I thought it would be funniER if he talked like Hanukkah Harry. ;D
Happy Happy!

Okay, if I were slightly less lazy busy, I would now search the internet for Hannukah Harley Quinn saying "Have a happy!"
Happy Hanukkah!
