Interesting article from Rock/Paper/Shotgun....a history of Battle of the Bulge computer games. Should bring back some memories for us older gamers. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/12/26/the-flare-path-battle-of-the-bulge-wargames/#more-260175
good read!
I wish they'd reference the games, by screenshot
Apoc -- they sort of do as they're pretty directly associated between text and screenshot? Maybe it's because I've played all but two of the damn things that I could follow it, but, still...
A really great piece. "Patton Strikes Back" was absurdly ahead of its time and, in a small measure, failed for it. I had utterly forgotten "Battle for Antwerp" which I invested no small amount of time in when I got it as pirate-ware...wait, there's a statute of limitations on that right...well, just in case, I really did try to buy the thing, but I'm not convinced it was ever available over here. And, like a lot of people around here, I sincerely hope Panther Games succeeds and succeeds brilliantly in getting its show back on the road.
Thanks for the link!
Best,

I'm with you on this. That article was hard to follow along with. The names of the games were blended in with the rest of the paragraph text (not bolded, italicized or quoted even) and the screenshots weren't labelled. It was maybe half a dozen games described with barely a paragraph of detail worth of info about them. I appreciate the link to the article however as I had forgotten about a couple of those games.
Yes great find Rayfer. I had forgotten I never finished my CMBO Team Desorby campaign. Damn I miss that game.

It's funny, but by the time computer games came along, I'd played enough Battle of the Bulge to seriously (yes, absolutely) reduce my
interest in the battle. I played the first John Tiller game and one other. Now I'm definitely going to get the CM2 version of the battle when it comes out. It will be my first Bulging in decades.
Hehe...bulging...hehe...
