I just got an email from Cornered Rat, asking if I want to pre-order and be part if the beta for Rapid Assault.
Looks like another WWII team based FPS a la Battlefield 1942.

Graphics look dated. So are these WWII Online assets compressed into a more limted game? I guess this is one-time purchase instead of subscription based.
These new player assets were introduced into the game in limited fashion during the last few months. I believe they will be available in the main game toward the end of a campaign but that this release is for a separate set of servers with smaller, more focused maps and quicker game resolution. WW2OL units have a much more detailed damage model than the usual 'hit points' system used by other FPS games with vehicles so it plays much more realistically as to the actual combat. Thus, no killing a tiger by shooting it with your 1911 'leventy billion times.

It's an early build. SDR just got the invite to the beta so I wouldn't judge the graphics yet.

I've never understood why they didn't just start with a focus. And what games still have systems where you can kill a Tiger by shooting it with a pistol a billion times?
Though I miss the days in some mods of the original operation flashpoint where you could blow a Tiger a few hundred meters into the air and off to sea with a small explosive charge.
