It probably connects to the Steam API, which is perfectly safe.

Don't think that makes typing your login info into a 3rd party's web page any safer.

I am not even going to try. I have 112 games, and I haven't finished a lot of them. I have played more than a couple of them 200+ hours each.

unlike some of you misanthropes around here, I actually do have a modicum of self control and responsibility.

that modicum being limited to game buying and game buying only is a separate conversation...

You don't need to actually login.  You can just place your or anyone's steam ID in the box (if you know it).

That isn't how these things work.  When a third party website/service wants you to authenticate, it redirects you to Steam's server, which asks you to login and then asks whether you're happy to allow the third party to access the API.  No login information is sent to the third party - just Steam.

Edit: Heh, I've just visited the website...in fact it's even more innocuous than this...you can just give it your profile URL (although your profile has to be publically viewable for it to work) and it will work it out.

Didn't know it used the public ID.  That's less alarming.

I'll keep warning of phishing web pages just to keep Toonces engaged.    ^-^

Cool concept.  However, I wouldn't ever want to find out the number of hours it would take to complete my Steam games, as I'm pretty sure the answer would overwhelm/depress me.  :-[

That just about sums it up for me too and I am not even counting my GOG and Gamersgate libraries!  :o

To be honest, I think Steam only logs stuff when you're on-line, so it is misleading.

I usually play offline, but I was playing Mount and Blade the other day and I noticed I was getting game time, and achievements credited only when I was on-line.

Except that you don't type your login info into a 3rd party web page. That is the whole point of using the Steam API for authentication.

Lots of questions:

1.  Installed games or library?

2.  What do you mean FINISH?  I still pick up "Might and Magic X" every now and again just to clear the final boss one more time.  I've played some Battle Academy scenarios on-line many times, &c.

3.  60 minutes, eh?

4.  And I could, apparently, watch the "Dark Knight" trilogy 309 times in the time it would take to "complete" my library.

Best,

Problem is, this fires my OCD like you can't even IMAGINE.

I'm starting to sit here thinking about whether I'll EVER be able to get all these games PLAYED.

BASTARDS!!
