Hi all, I just got this press release...
Slitherine Press Announcement
For Immediate Release
Tanks are rolling again!
Battle Academy 2 gets a first expansion focused on the Battle of Kursk!
Epsom, UK – February 18th, 2015.
"Whenever I think of this attack, my stomach turns over." (Heinz Guderian – German General during WW2 – prior to the assault on Kursk)
Summer 1943 – The Soviet and German High Commands gather their strength for what they both believe will be a decisive battle. The Wehrmacht wants to retake the initiative on a front that tends to bog down due to the fierce resistance of the Red Army. The two armies, resupplied and rearmed, are now ready in the neighborhood of Kursk for one of the largest armored clashes in history!
Players will be able to relive the key moments of this huge air-ground operation on the Eastern Front in Battle of Kursk, the first expansion of Battle Academy 2! Following in the footsteps of the base game – which received an enthusiastic critical reception last year with a Metacritic score of 77% on PC and 80% on iPad – Battle of Kursk keeps the mechanics that made the series both approachable and very tactical while introducing new engaging elements. Along with a set of new units that bring diversity to the encounters, Battle of Kursk offers two campaigns with a carryover system. Often requested by the community, this carryover approach will allow the players to keep units from one scenario to another, forcing them to not be too fool-hardy in order to complete the campaigns!
So today we are happy to announce that players will be able to fight with the German and Soviet armies at Prokhorovka and other famous Kursk locations on March 26th!

I wonder if they'll offer the base BA2 on a discount on or before then? ^-^ I would be tempted to pick them up if that were the case.
GIGGITY! Love BA2, and will definitely be gettng this Kursk expansion. Thanks for posting, Boggit.
No worries m8. :) I also got sent some pix, which I cluelessly couldn't work out how to embed into the post. I'll email you now. O0
Thanks! If they are located online, use the URL to post here.
I've racked up close to 80 hours of gameplay in BA2. This is a day 1 purchase for me.
I will continue to play cooperative multiplayer until they shut down the servers or release a Cold War Battle Academy.
Ooh Cold War BA would be fantastic.

New feature: Linked carryover missions mean that excessive losses may leave forces too weak for final victory.
How is the random battle generator for this game? I almost bought Hell for their skirmish mode.
Pick the size of the battle, pick the size of the map, pick a side (army), purchase units, play. I play more skirmish than canned missions.
^That said I do like the canned missions and the mini campaigns. There are many things in BA2 done very well - adjustable difficulty, unit descriptions, optimization, AI...and of course the Battle of Kursk is quite fascinating to me...looking forward to playing this. May even rearrange my gaming schedule to get to it quicker :)

IIRC, there is a knock on effect for core forces now in the game. If you take heavy casualties early on, there is some carry over making future missions more tricky.
It's been over a month since I played but I think it did that in the original BA2 campaigns.

Oh, my bad. I thought it was in the add on. I've mainly been playing skirmish, and have only recently started playing Barbarossa seriously.

You have a gaming schedule?

You have a gaming schedule?
I wish... unless you count whenever I can! ;D
I do...because of OCD. I must game and read on the same topic and not go all willy nilly crazy and game something totally unrelated to what I'm reading. I envy guys who can play multiple games on a variety of topics in one sitting.
I can lose at 5 games simultaneously. When I start winning, then I know I'm not paying attention.
^HA!
I am 99% sure that none of the core BA2 campaigns were carryover (although you could always build your own). The Kursk campaigns are designed from the start to carry across portions of your forces through the campaign.
Cheers

True.
I just finished the German chapter of the Kursk campaign.
Loved it!
Great missions; Really enjoyed the unit carry-over. It brought me back to my Close Combat days. Losing a veteran pioneer squad during one of the last missions really hurt.
Looks like something's cooking.

Must be Pavlov's house.
Stalingrad in this game would be awesome.
