Anyone else heard about this game. I just stumbled on it today.

Heroes & Generals is a Massive Online FPS with a Strategic Multiplayer Campaign, taking place in the European theater of war during WWII. 'Heroes' refer to the players engaged in the FPS-part of the game and 'Generals' refer to the players managing the resources and commanding Assault Teams (army units) in the Strategy-part of the game.
They also have a pre-beta video up

It looks like an interesting game, kind of like WWII Online but with better graphics. It looks like it will be a F2P model with in-game credits to purchase or earn that you can use to upgrade weapons, characters etc. They also have their own version of Kickstarter where you can buy 'War Bonds' during development and once the game is launched you will earn the interest off of those bonds in the form of game credits.
Until I know more I won't pony up for anything but I will definitely be keeping my eye on this one.
I've been in touch with the devs about getting some beta keys for folks here on the forums. I've got an alpha invite myself but haven't had time to look at it yet. I'm excited about it - it looks cool how you can either play as an FPS or as a strategy game.
Yeah. Never heard of it before but it's looking pretty nice.
I don't know how many key's I'll get - that might be based on (hint hint) how much chatter there is in the forums. I didn't want to say anything in case the deal didn't come through, but I figure since we're on the subject I'd confess I've been working on this.
This game looks very interesting.
LB - Your site has been the worst for me abstaining from upgrading my laptop. I can't take it anymore. Darn you Grogheads.com, darn you.
I like that guy swimming in the river. 8) Don't think I've seen that in a FPS before but I'm not a big MMO/FPS gamer.
This looks very interesting. I love the idea of a strategic layer on top of the FPS layer. That is something that is missing from all of the MMO's I have played.
I'll be keeping an eye on this.
Yes, it does look interesting, worth keeping tabs on.

Let us know if you hear anything.
I love the bicycle troops, reminds me of ARMA II. Ok I registered an account there and am awaiting an Alpha-key. I hope!
I joined the mailing list a few months ago.
Rock Paper Shotgun have been covering it. Everybody reads RPS right? Maybe not, but if not, try it! You can just straight up appreciate the games coverage, but you can also take a branching path between deepening appreciation for or building bewilderment at British humour.

I don't read RPS. :P
I got my key yay!!
Played a few battles as a humble rifleman. I think I'm going to really like this game. Can't post any screenies as it is forbidden to do so as an alpha-tester.
My initial experience was good overall. Haven't encountered any serious bugs yet. One minor issue occurs whilst manning a mounted vehicle weapon. Your hands do not follow the positioning of the MG as you turn about but this graphical issue does not affect aim as far as I can tell. When manning a such a weapon simply follow the end of the barrel as you track your target and you should be fine.
I played about 5 battles one of which actually had a decent 5 on 5 fight. You earn points for capturing objectives even if there are no opponents to fight against so don't give up if you can't find a full 10 on 10 battle to be a part of.
In the fight I was in where there were 5 players on each side I noticed that my side did not have armor while the other did. This must be an example of HQ not assigning any armor or armor spawn points to the particular city area I was stationed in.
I can't seem to join a game. I get a server to slow/busy message every time I try. >:(
I have had this problem as well. I looked through their forums and it looks like we are not alone. It is a known issue they are still trying to resolve. So far the only fix is to keep refreshing the page and logging in until it goes through. Very annoying but it eventually does work.
I have been having to refresh and re-log in as well to join the war. It seems like the server is down for maintenance right now. I've noticed a lot of lag when there are many units available as spawn slots for each side.
I like the concept of this one.
Commanders move units in a persistent world via PC or iOS app.
Then confrontations are set up FPS players to join.
Types of units engaged determine the classes / units and spawn count of the FPS match.

It's perfect: the game is marketted (like WWII Online and Iron Front) by showing how well those typical
german weapons will do in the game. So there will be lots of bungling characters on the jerry side
and for a few months I'll get to do feats of daring against them. Then I will get bored and/or jerry
will learn to play.
