Ruh Roh.  Looks like I may be a bit poorer after the 3rd quarter this year.

Why is it always the bloody Ultras?

Drives me nuts...

Otherwise very cool

I'm happier with the Ultramarines than some others.

If it were some nuttery like the Spacewolves, I'd have been very disappointed.

But I would probably be more inclined toward some of the other factions initially, anyway.  Chaos marines, Orks, and Eldar in the mix too.   O0

From some of the comments I've read, they've taken a lot of the mechanics from their Starcraft game and put them into something new. Makes sense, since Starcraft was well received by a lot of people (though I've never played it), but it's long out of print and the license rights are well in the past.

Really looking forward to this one. And by choosing specific 'regiments' for each of the base factions, they leave options for big box expansions with new factions as well as smaller ones with new 'regiments' featuring unit-specific units and cards.

Rodney is starting a series on the game.  Should be a 'How To Play' coming up soon.    O0

This guy reminds me of Bob, the Viagra dude in the commercials. And a certain avatar hereabouts in the forums.

Isn't that Enzyte that Grinnin' Bob has to thank for his new-found lease on life?

Is that why he's been so scarce lately?

I'm definitely getting this game when it is available.  I'm guessing there will be expansion packs you can purchase eventually.  So many marine chapters and baddies can be added to the base game it looks like.

What sold me was the statement in the original posts video saying to forget the promise of progress and understanding.  For there is no peace amongst the stars.   O0

You would seem to be courting heresy all the way around.

Space Wolves are awesome.

Funny thing about this game - I was at my FLGS last night and there was a video that periodically popped up pimping this game. It came on just frequently enough to be annoying without telling me anything about the game.

If by "too gimmicky" you mean "too awesome!" then I agree.

By "too gimmicky" I mean "too cheesy".

Viking Werewolf Berserker Space Marines?  Maybe they should add even more generic lore to them while they're at it?   :buck2:

Game is out now.  Has anyone picked it up?

I have played it - not my copy.

First game was to figure out the dynamics.

We liked it but are scheduling a second game soon to get into it for real.

Each side plays differently.

Objective is to capture a number of tokens, each of which is scattered by other players across the map.

There are shifting "warp" borders which block off one edge of a map board (several of which are in play and are moved by the players each turn). This can make for interesting variations in the game since you cannot cross from one board to another where they block.

There is a production aspect of the game which drives players to create more units and yet is constrained by the systems he controls. So as you expand you cannot cover all the planets you pass through, yet you build factories to produce units. They are permanent, and if you abandon them another faction can take control. So you potentially have a long logistical train to support your conquering fleet and yet are trying to protect your home production worlds.

It makes for some challenging play but seems fun so far.

It's on the 'buy eventually' list. Still very interested in having it, but the price tag coupled with the likelihood that this will join TI3 in that 'Maybe we'll play it once or twice a year' space makes it a lower priority than other games more likely to see the table more often.

Same.  I plan on getting it at some point.

From the reviews I've seen, most recommend it as a 2-player game.  Due to the long combat resolutions, which seem to be enjoyed but can cause downtime to others who aren't in a battle at any one moment.

LB your comments renew my excitement for the game, thanks.  I've got it on my wishlist and will buy once I get some spare cash.
