All of the recent talk about the 150 year mark of the end of the Civil War and Lincoln's assassination has me wanting to know more about what came next.
Any recommendations on books covering the Reconstruction Era? Preferably a book that covers the entire nation, not just the south.

the author has a pair of books on the era, also, that you could check out
Reading the title i imagined building a new Capital in the center of the country, leaving 'historical' Washington as a tourist destination. It's so much more defendable when countries are figuring out mach 7 scamjet missiles that can be sub launched.
A couple biographies of U.S. Grant have some really good sections on reconstruction under Johnson and Grant:

Thanks! I decided to get
Reconstruction Updated Edition: America's Unfinished Revolution, 1863-1877 by the author who wrote the article.
I'll also check out the Grant books since I don't have a biography book on him yet.
