First I've heard of this thing. Apparently stalled during parade rehearsal. Still interesting to see that the Russians still want to play the heavy armor game....

I was just looking the other day to see if the Russians had any plans to replace the T-90's, and ran across the Armata.
There was mention of these over at CNN. I have to admit I'm intrigued.
I was privvy to an offline conversation with some former tankers. Their consensus was that this looks a lot like the US's 1990 attempt - which was abandoned - at the Armored System Modernization. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASM_Program
Even more intriguing...
I suspect they are only making a few, then photoshopping them into existing armor divisions ;)
Cheaper, ya know?
The Lada in parade wrap stalled out.
CMBS fans were looking for this in the game.
Another reason to keep the Warthog in service.
They could change the name from Armata to Swiss Cheese.

Hahaha!
The article mentioned roboticising the tank. One step closer before the Cyborgs rise up! ;D
I'm not too worried about Russian tech taking over. They haven't mastered simple mechanics yet.
QuoteThis is the alarming moment a Russian military parade went disastrously wrong when a BUK missile caught fire and smoke billowed out the end of it in front of horrified spectators.
The BUK system was slowly passing through Lenin Square in the Siberian city of Chita as part of the Victory parade celebrations taking place across Russia when it was suddenly engulfed in flames.
The missile system is believed to have been used to down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 in last year's crash over eastern Ukraine in which all 298 on board were killed.

Rumor is that he had a chance to train with some Russian SEALs.

He had to twist their arm for the gig.
This T-14 reminds me of the old Soviet T-35.
