Title: The End of Men: Gaming & Porn
Post by: LongBlade on May 09, 2015, 06:50:43 PM
A psychologist (of a prison, no less) has presented a theory that the combination of video games and porn are resulting in the end of masculinity.

QuoteGiving an example of the mindset of a gaming and pornography-addicted young man, he says: "When I'm in class, I'll wish I was playing World of Warcraft. When I'm with a girl, I'll wish I was watching pornography, because I'll never get rejected."

Zimbardo claims that this relatively new phenomenon is affecting the minds of young men.

The article goes on:

QuoteHe also mentioned the growing problem of a disputed phenomenon called 'porn-induced erectile dysfunction', or PIED: "Young boys who should be virile are now having a problem getting an erection."

"You have this paradox - they're watching exciting videos that should be turning them on, and they can't get turned on."

An article from Psychology Today, however, argues that there are no demonstrable scientific links between porn consumption and erectile dysfunction.

Pompei was supposed to have been a real porn central.

I was under the impression that most of the porn murals in Pompeii were actually found at brothels and is believed by scholars to functioned as a sort of 'menu' as it were, for facilitating transactions among the staff and patrons.

Yes, but if you read the article closely he observes that for the first time it is available immediately on-demand, fresh 100% of the time. Therein lies the difference.

It's one thing to see the same mosaic in your buddy's entry hall each time you walk in. It's another to be able to watch - essentially live - in your home on the PC or on the go with your phone at a moment's notice.

N.B. that the theory is still considered "controversial". But one wonders if there's not at least a bit of truth to it.

It was my understanding that many were in public baths, not just brothels.  Also some were in private homes IIRC.

why should men date women ? I mean seriously.
If it wasnt for the sex what do modern women really offer a man ?

Bitching and moaning because your life isnt fulfilled. well nah im not into S&M
Sarcasme and remarks about how they dont need us.. Well fine, just dont come crying when your in a jam.
etc etc.

Yeah I still love some women some of the time, just dislike most modern women most of the time.

Perceptions of archaeologists mean squat other than learning what their opinion of something is. Truthfully we'll never know truly what those things are.

Reminds me a lot of the book "Motel of the Mysteries."

http://www.amazon.com/Motel-Mysteries-David-Macaulay/dp/0395284252

It assumes a cataclysm destroys all life on the North American continent in 1985, and a couple of thousand years later a team of archaeologists are excavating a motel...but imagine what their perceptions are of what they find there. It's hilarious and very disturbing at the same time, giving something of a cynical view of how archaeologists perceive things and could possibly be completely off base.

Sounds eerily like A Canticle for Leibowitz.

The Pompeii Porn is some of the newest in Breezy's collection...you should see his Babylonian stuff. Racy!

To get over this new tech problem, boys should just shut off their gadgets for a while and venture off into the world sometimes.

I'm fairly sure I've heard of this and then forgotten it. Thanks.

Am I to suppose he prefers his women with bared breasts ,feathered wings, and the hindquarters of large predatory cats, then?

The collapse of manhood appears to be true: lingerie for men.

Yeah, that includes the fabled manssieres.

No, I'm not posting pics because I'm not going to clog my Photobucket with this crap. Plenty of pics at the link. All are safe for work...provided you have an understanding cohort of coworkers who won't mind you browsing undies fit for a queen (and we all know who we're talking about here).

smh

Well that's not weird or disturbing in any way.
