I generally enjoy stand-up comedy, but I don't consider Dane Cook in that category. Whenever I hear his bits on the Comedy Central channel on SiriusXM, it's like listening to a dull person tell an even duller story.
When my kids were younger, they thought he was hilarious (they like Jim Carrey, too, so...). They made me sit and watch a special of his stand up. The one story that stuck with me was about him trying to ditch a friends party and getting caught by the ditched friend. It went on for what seemed like EVER and all I could think was, why would anyone be bummed this guy didn't show up?
I never understood his popularity....his or that of Larry the Cable Guy. Ugh.
Was never into Cook's stuff much. But I did happen to hear one bit on satellite radio years ago with some hilarious terminology.

You'll hopefully forgive me if I skip watching it.
The only thing that sticks with me from his bits is his story about a girlfriend giving him a BJ in his car in the driveway of her parent's house. Of course, BJ, so sure, that's great, but the story went ON and ON and ON and the audience was just laaaaaaughing and I was all, ??? how is this funny? Perhaps anecdotally amusing, but NOT stand-up comedy level, and sure as hell not recording-for-posterity-or-specials level.
The one random thing I remember of Dane Cook is some story e told about having to take a dump and breaking a bathroom stall door down to do it. That still makes mr laugh. But I've heard many stories about him being a giant asshole too...so...who knows what's true.
To be fair, he might have been a decent person at one time, but I get the feeling he's one of those that let fame go to their head and become giant douchenozzles as a result. His comment to the owner of the comedy club ("I own this place!") is pretty douchenozzle-y.
