Title: Game of Thrones vs Wars of the Roses
Post by: RooksBailey on May 15, 2015, 09:03:26 PM
I am surprised no one has adapted this into an historical drama such as The Tudors or The Vikings.  I think it would make for a fascinating series:

Reminds me of one of my CK2 games.   ;D

Pretty certain that at some point Martin indicated he had actually played Kingmaker, a game of the War of the Roses.

Fascinating.  I wasn't aware the Wars of the Roses served as inspiration for GoT, although in hindsight it certainly fits.

Lannister v. Stark and Lancaster v. York wasn't a clue?  :))

This is going to sound -- hell, it *is* -- bizarre/nonsensical, but for some reason, I've always mentally put the Wars of the Roses in the Renaissance period (instead of the late Medieval where it actually takes place).  Ergo, there was never in my mind an obvious connection between that and Game of Thrones.

(Of course, I'm also not a fan of GoT, so it's not like I've ever given it much thought to begin with.  So there's that as well.)
