Loved the book. Science nerds rejoice it's pretty damn accurate and believable

Hoping Hollywood stays true to the humor and science of the book trailer looks promising

Really, that's as far as this thread went?  Pfft.

Finally watched this.  I bought the blu ray blind, somehow avoiding all spoilers and thus knowing absolutely nothing other than it was a sci-fi by Ridley Scott; more than enough endorsement.  As expected, it is a brilliant film.  It's full of spectacle, drama, tension, humour, fantastic acting and Scott's signature attention to detail, and makes a complete and utter mockery of Gravity.  I love it and I'm dying to see it again already.

The only downside - no director's commentary.  That's a great shame because Scott's are always entertaining.

I also finally watched it (well, as much as I could stand). I thought it was typical Hollywood garbage. I was told it was 'scientifically accurate' before I saw it. It was anything but. It even won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy. Best Comedy? Even the attempts at humor were horrible. I know that people liked it but it was not for me.

No.  Overhyped, absolute nonsense.  And if you hated the science in The Martian (which had a decent stab at it in my opinion) you'll really hate the science in Gravity.  Plus it's another Christian fable disguised as something else which I personally can't stand.
