How one guard deals with an annoying tourist.

That moron needs Mrs. Bawb to work him over with her (well used) frying pans!!! What an ultra-maroon, as my favorite cartoon bunny might say.   :knuppel2:

Other tourists should slap him for being an idiot. Show some respect, they are not entertainers, they are doing a historical role.

I can't believe anyone would even think of touching them...

I was in East Berlin in the mid 80's at some memorial guarded by East German soldaten.

I distinctly remember having a buddy of mine snap a pic where it appeared as though I had my arm around the guard.

However, I was quite careful *not* to touch the man.

I guess in the 80's we were a little bit brighter...

No, that is not the actual problem. Problem is that many people don't care anymore about soldiers and their job, about drill, discipline and tradition -  it's so outside of their own reality of living the easy going entertainment life that the majority will always do what this silly dude and his friends you can hear laughing all the time (even after the reaction of the Queen's Guard!) are doing - making fun of it.

I agree. Many citizens see the military as irrelevant. A waste of money. These kids see everything as there for their fun.

The idea that these troops protect the nation from potential invasion never crosses their mind. The role deserves respect as well as the human being in the uniform.

Maybe not an outright shot...but just tickle them with the bayonet a little.

We should also bear in mind that these troops have to be aware of the fact that one, or more, of these 'tourists' could in fact be someone who wants to do them harm. In some respects, they are sitting ducks for terrorist attacks.

How often do the guards have to tussle with members of the public? Considering the millions of folks who go to look there have to be at least a few asshats every week.

Two words:  butt-stroke.   And not the kind that Star goes on about either.  :coolsmiley:

As fast as that twirp flew backwards, when the guardsman yelled at him, you'd think he had taken a rifle butt to the face!    >:D
