Re: the article,
I remember pay toilets from the late 70's. It seemed as if every other one had copious graffiti including "Here I sit so broken hearted. Paid my dime and only farted". Often the tale of woe was followed by a drawing of :( or :'(
If I 'reserve' a free copy, I'll be given a notice when I can download the files in the background and then decide when to install it. If I don't reserve a free copy, I can still get a free copy later from what I understand. I think I'll wait until they've spotted the security holes for now.
If I had a windows tablet, I'd probably jump. For my desktop though, I think I can wait myself. My house isn't screaming for it. Right now my first though is to perform another system back up of my existing Win 7 rig.
I wonder what Nero would have thought of dung-encrusted eyeballs? (https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1081.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fj349%2Flongblade%2FSmilies%2FEye_anim.gif&hash=e31625e2e20c50b83c7842bf4f020cc0e8307a33)
I knew they collected it in the public vats, for leather curing and laundry. Don't recall hearing the toothpaste thing, however.
IIRC, collecting human feces was another Roman endeavor. Yes, someone paid people money for their shit. Obviously for fertilizing purposes, but I'm not sure about any extra specifics.
Jack Benny told this story on himself. His act was partly based on acting as a cheapskate and trying to chizzle out of paying for things. He had to use a toilet and after leaving found his wallet had fallen out of his bakc pocket. He saw it under the stall door and got down on his knees to reach for it.
At that point another person came in to the restroom and made a disgusted noise at the sight of someone trying to avoid paying the dime by sneaking under the door. When Benny looked up, the guy recognized him. He rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, of course, it's you."
Doody toothpaste?
Urine a heap o' trouble now...
