are boots on ground considered a foreign invasion?

there was a big radio chat this morning about the UK putting soldiers on the French side of the channel tunnel and a lot of people were saying it would never be allowed

Yeah, I've been hearing about the throngs of immigrants trying to walk through the chunnel to the UK.

It's an invasion if it is an intentional aggressive military incursion into another nation, without permission, for the purpose of taking territory.

Would the British allow French Gendarmes to guard the entrance in Folkestone?

From what I've read the UK and the French are in discussion to allow the UK to augment security. Whether the idea is going anywhere or not with the French isn't clear, though I can do some digging for you if you like.

1500 tried to get through last night and one guy died

Theres 25 miles of backed up trucks on the motorway and the diverted traffic is shutting down all the country lanes and villages nearby

Politicians focusing on the holiday makers but there will be businesses seriously suffering - for me you can stick a machine gun on the entrance and its sorted

We agreed when the tunnel opened that military could be used in an emergency, French wont accept it but something needs doing

I take it that these migrants aren't eastern European strippers, and I correct in that?

But why Britain?  What benefits do Britain offer that France does not?
Title: Re: Switzerland invades France... for water!
Post by: undercovergeek on July 29, 2015, 12:18:14 PM
thats the stupid thing, our benefit system gives less than France and theyre already in there

but France is a nightmare to get refugee status and apparently we hand them out like leaflets

what always puzzles me is theyre running scared from Syria and are afraid for their life, so they ran to Turkey, through Eastern Europe, through Italy, into France and upto the UK - WTF - if youre scared for your life just get to safety!!! you know, like the next friendly country over

Theres supposed to be an understanding in the diplomatic community that once they get to a friendly country theyre supposed to stop, and that country is obliged to offer help - but noone appears to be reading the rule book

And what do France do? shrug, its not their problem, theyre trying to get out of France not in, it is not in Frances interest to prevent them storming the tunnel

There was something like 6000 a few days ago - though perhaps that was 6000 over a three day period. Can't remember for sure.

But, yes, the situation is getting bad.

At least you have a process. Over here we just let them swim across the Rio Grande and fling open our arms.

So half a million a year, just into the UK. Within a decade Europe will be unrecognizable.

Last winter I went back to Vancouver. Several times I went to Metrotown mall, weekends as well as weekdays. Not once did i recognize a single person out of the big crowds. I grew up there for f sakes. Everyone has left, too expensive.

Did I hear that the negotiations have now moved past security issues in the Chunnel and are now focusing on joint planning for the British victory parade through Paris... >:D

To be fair, it may be a defeat parade, as I cannot image the British would view it as a victory for very long.

Yes, here in America, now officially-- Obamagrad, we have a much more sensible situation. If you can get here by boat from Cuba, you can stay. If you can get here by boat from Haiti, you have to go back. See, doesn't that make sense?

Cuba has a voting block in Florida, which decides elections. You have to be nice to their swimmers. Haiti? They dont have a pot to piss in. They are fish food.

were facing a immigrants tsunami all over here right now! :o  'Calais news' is just the tip of the iceberg!

unfortunately the left/greenish do-gooders (living in the richer suburbs and never see a "refugee" in their dead-end street white picket fence paradise, always like to spend the money of other taxpaiers for their ideology), who had infested the media and politics since two decades with their Political Correctness venom, keep the politics from fixing the problem once and for good  ...especially in Germany!

Well, the French and Brits didn't lost a war and so not have to take 'historical-sentiments' into account.
And can still use the word "Camp" to temporarily store unwanted people  ...maybe we just should call it "departure lounges" then.

where is the problem to just declare a 20klicks stretch around the tunnel mouth to be a off-limit-area and root up every person who not comply?
also make a bilateral contract with one or two poor nations in Africa (maybe Sudan) pay them 500 Euro per headcount for taking those 'refugees' (back!) well those 'tunnel-truck-surfers' there are mostly out of that area anyway, and them load them flexicuffed in a large military airlifter and fly them nonstopout to Khartoum.

If the politics don't stop that immigration tsunami to Europe soon, the ordinary people here will get more and more angry and we will get a civil war or soonish people will vote on 'the farer right side' in lots of European nations ...and that can -in the end- lead to a danger for democracy.

todays UK press

David Cameron was branded "disgraceful" this morning after labelling migrants trying to get into the UK a "swarm".

The Prime Minister used the emotive word when asked what the Government was doing to deal with the thousands of migrants trying to get through the Channel Tunnel into Britain via Calais.

Nine people have died attempting to cross through the tunnel in the past month, with the most recent fatality coming on Tuesday.

Today, Mr Cameron blamed instability in North Africa for the recent spike in the migrant numbers, adding: "This is very testing, I accept that, because you have got a swarm of people coming across the Mediterranean, seeking a better life, wanting to come to Britain because Britain has got jobs, it's got a growing economy, it's an incredible place to live."

His use of the word "swarm" was seized upon by Labour leadership contender Andy Burnham, who tweeted: "Cameron calling Calais migrants a "swarm" is nothing short of disgraceful. Confirms there's no dog-whistle these Bullingdon Boys won't blow."

and thats 3/4 of the problem right there - he spoke the truth, said what we all think but some opposition, left wing twat has to brand it disgusting because were not ferrying them through the tunnel with a cup of tea and some cake at the end

how in gods name is swarm disgraceful when used to describe this debacle

You know who made a big issue of "swarm" to the press - it was - no surprise - Harriet Harman, the lame duck caretaker leader of "New" Labour trying to score some cheap political points, although she actually has nothing practical to say on the matter. The Calais swarm are illegal economic migrants/neo-colonists (which is a term MikeGER can probably relate to). France is not an unsafe country for them so there are no issues of asylum. France should repatriate them to Italy, or better still to Libya. I was amazed when I saw on TV a boat being rescued 15 miles off the Libyan coast (in Libyan waters), and the Irish navy taking them to Lampedusa in Italy. Why not just return them to Libya where they'd just come from :idiot2:?
