I wonder if all the pathing and LOS problems still carried over.

Very exciting.  Look forward to following the development of this one.

Probably blasphemy to suggest, but -- I wonder if there will be any way to adjust the pure top-down view.  Even just enabling a modest degree of "tilt" would be great.

Is this the totally new engine? I loved CC2 back in the day but i bought COI and WAR and was totally disappointed in the gameplay. I'm going to need some convincing on this one.

Looks great, can't wait to try it.

Anyone know who the developers are, as in, any previous games that they've created?

from my understanding the new game comes with two modes : the traditional top down and a new tilted one as shown in the second pic.
i dunno about (continues)zoom levels and (free)rotation so ?

we will have to wait for the first gameplay video  or probably a Twitch-event presentation

Hope you're right. I kind of got the impression that the second pic was not 'true' top down, and so maybe there was some hope for a more 'dynamic' controllable perspective, but couldn't be sure if it was just my aging eyes playing tricks on me.   :)

Anything that brings Close Combat into this century graphics-wise would be a bonus.

This century but one decade ago.

Steve McClaire in the Matrix Forum answered a bunch of questions on 7/23  (...so its very recent intel on "CC 2.0" ;))
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3900931#

quote:

*How is the final 3D camera? is it similar to Battle Academy? the Battle Academy settings would be great for CC game.

The camera allows for either a top-down view or an angled view. You can pan and zoom the camera freely, but there is no rotation.

btw:
What me concerns a little is that the two pics presented to us by Slitherine are the same that were already published 1 year ago in an article by this blogger

http://www.pockettactics.com/news/ios-news/slitherines-new-3d-close-combat-looks-just-like-old-2d-close-combat/

Come on ! 14 month later and we get the same old pic as 'breaking news'  :-\
(and the old excuse: Gamesworkshop doesnt allow us to publish alfa/beta-pics doenst work thistime ;-) )

my hopes to see and to get it maybe as early as Oct at the Spiel 2015 in Essen at the Slitherine booth and play it 'when the leafs turn red'  or even under the Christmas tree are vanishing...

Funny, just had a similar experience with Hearts of Iron 4 -- got a breathless newsletter from Paradox mentioning the game, and I thought, hmmm, haven't checked on development in a couple months. So I head over to the forum and, yup, no news -- last dev diary was from May or June...

I'd be pretty excited to see the new Close Combat sometime this year -- HoI4 isn't coming our way til 2016 at this point...
