Title: Controller woes
Post by: Father Ted on July 31, 2015, 01:45:42 PM
Okay, so this is strictly a first-world problem, and probably has no solution, but I'm hoping one of you fine people might be able to help me...

My PC set up is firmly geared towards flight-simming. Attached to the USB ports are: joystick, home-made throttle, throttle quadrant, pedals, and TIR.  My problem is that lots of action games on Steam now boast controller support - and they pick up my joystick as a controller.  This results in a perpetual spinning motion in first person view - games are unplayable.

Of course I could just unplug the stick, but if I do that then the next time I "fly" I find my controllers all need re-mapping.

So what I'm asking is: does anybody know of a work around for this?

Note which USB ports are used by your flightsim hardware.
Use the exact same port for each controller to prevent having to remap after connecting your stuff.

I have the same 'problem' and I do disconnect my sim hardware to play other games. No other way around it unfortunately with games that do not offer enough control over axis assignments.

This.

Just gotta plug each back in to where they were before.

Thanks guys, I'll try that.

I guess I was hoping that there may be some way of disabling controller support in the games.

At least some games must have the option in-game, but I don't think there's a way to disable controller support across the board.

You would have thought so, but the ones I've got (Chivalry, Verdun, Borderlands) don't appear to.  Anyhoo, the advice above seems to be working, so I'm okay.
