Title: M4 Tank Brigade
Post by: Grim.Reaper on August 17, 2015, 07:40:37 PM
I am guessing this might not take off, but hey its a tank game:)  Currently early access and sees like very dated graphics, but who knows...maybe some kind of good game lurks underneath.

M4 Tank Brigade is a classic game of single player World War II Armored combat simulation game with thousands of unique combat missions in solo play!

M4 Tank Brigade also allows players to go online for FREE and play armored combat against other players while commanding not one but four armored vehicles at the same time!

M4 Tank Brigade takes strategy and tactical maneuvering to position your armored vehicles to capture territory and defeat enemy forces. You can send your vehicles on separate missions. You can jump into any vehicle at a critical time and place to insure victory. Your skill driving and shooting from that vehicle could insure victory! You can also call in artillery barrages and air strikes to smash enemy positions. The map shows friendly and enemy forces over a very large area, including other friendly and enemy players in the online game. Coordinate with friends to position your forces for victory!

M4 Tank Brigade is a simulation based on World War II Armored warfare. M4 Tank Brigade is not an arcade game but a simulation game that takes some real learning, great tactics, and forward thinking to play and win!

The battleground graphics remind me of the tactical backdrops of a Dominions 3 battle.

Just make sure you do your due diligence before you buy this.  I seem to remember the SimHQ guys going ape shit over how bad this game was misrepresented when it first came out.  Maybe it's better, maybe it's not the same game.  But if it's any good you'll see the SimHQ crowd jump all over this; their armor guys are salivating for any kind of new, good armor game.

Going with my gut on this one and not buying.

But for the love of everything, there are so few tank games out there.

I can't believe there is a serious discussion about purchasing this game. Has the world gone mad? Just look at the videos. Aside from the graphics that cause your eyes to bleed, where is the realism and authenticity that would permit one to maybe overlook the atrocious look of the game? I see no cover, no terrain features, tanks that simply explode when hit, no indication of accurate ballistics, etc. why is this even a discussion?

Good, I wasn't the only one thinking that way.

I saw the video and was thinking how well " Across the Rhine " looked and played compared to this.

The screenies remind me a bit of Tank Combat (http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-TANKC/tank-combat).

This was initially advertised years ago as M4 Tank Platoon, with regular name drops of legendary Microprose developer "Wild Bill" Stealey and constant references to his classic M1 Tank Platoon as the game's inspiration.  Many were led to believe, on announcement, that this would be the return of the Tank Platoon franchise in the World War 2 setting that many craved.

When the first game play demo released on youtube, it turned out that they were just making a Warbirds clone with ground combat.  Outdated graphics, terrible terrain, no clear nods to realism, and constant online multiplayer death match.  They changed the name to M4 Tank Brigade shortly after, just because the pretense of keeping the Tank Platoon moniker had worn far too thin to keep up.

Sadly it seems that Stealey's venture after Microprose, iEntertainment, hasn't really innovated since Warbirds, and is just devoted to making fast and dirty semi-mmo's that seem to be based on the same engine they used in the 1990's.

I thought it had died a swift death in development hell after public interest collapsed, I see I was wrong.
