The 'Boxer' is actually from Kuwait:

QuoteThe mysterious pugilist has been named as Kuwaiti-born Irish citizen Mohammed Fadel Dobbous by the Hurryiet Daily News.

Incredible footage of Mr Dobbous getting the better of more than a dozen armed men has become an internet sensation.

Social media users from both Ireland and Turkey have hailed him a hero - with one woman even offering her hand in marriage.

However the fighter is not a professional boxer - at least not in Ireland.
A spokesman for the Boxing Union of Ireland told the Mirror Online: "There is no licensed boxer by that name."

Maybe being Irish is more a state of mind than birth?

That point is proven every St. Paddy's Day here.

Chesterton once wrote a whole epic essay on that topic.  O0
