Title: Mad Max
Post by: Jarhead0331 on September 01, 2015, 04:27:20 PM
So this new release was being talked about in the Metal Gear V thread and after checking in on the status of reviews throughout the day, both user and commercial, its actually looking, despite initial hesitation, that the game is quite good.

Other than Grim, who else has this? I'm interested in hearing impressions from the experts around here. I'm hoping you will tell me something that will encourage me to save the $59.99.

By Christmas next year you'll have finished several other games you've already bought, and this will be like $20, maybe less.

You're welcome. :)

Haven't gotten far yet, but so far seems pretty enjoyable, especially driving the car around.  I am not the best car driver in these games so I have to get better in not crashing it all the time:)  Graphics seem good and controls work fine....been in a number of fistfights and mostly reminds me of Batman combat so far.  Way too early to know how everything holds up.

With this a Metal Gear, probably will be awhile before I get too deep into either one since I want to test drive them both out.

Yeah, that's gonna be my approach.

Yeah, but Jarhead loved Batman...   ::)

Seriously, though, this looks like a no-brainer for you JH.   >:D

I got it from GMG for 43.00 but I am not home so I have not installed it yet. It's waiting for me.

The game doesn't interest me but I must say (and I suspect I will be in the minority here) I thought the movie was awful. Oh, the fight scenes and special effects were incredible, but the 10 minutes of actual story, back story and dialogue were poorly done.

Sort of like everything else big budget to come out of Hollywood for the past decade?

ooooh...Avengers? Ant Man? Superman?

I really liked Mad Max. Not the reboot I was hoping for, but I still really liked it. Especially liked Billy Connolly leading the baddies  :P

Thanks for the tip.  Got it...downloading. Steam key seems to work fine. The verification phone call is a little creepy...and if I had known about it before I hit buy, I might not have, but otherwise OK

I'm very wary how quiet it is on this game. Either it's freakin' bad and no-one wants to admit they bought a bummer, or it's that good and people are too busy playing.

Or...of course...people might actually have lives to get on with...I suppose that's a valid reason!  :2funny:

Simply a matter of time....not enough of it.  Hope to get some time in over the 3-day weekend.

Here's a 90 minute play through video.  As usual with Giant Bomb, the commentary can be annoying but it does show off gameplay quite well.

It looks alright but the AI definitely seems suspect.  I think will wait for the discounts.

Thinking if buying through CDKeys as it is £12.99 vs £21.99 GMG vs £34.99 Steam but what is the "verification phone call" ?

The verification phone call is where you have to put a phone number in, and they call you with a code.  They can SMS.  But I just had my land line, so I opted for voice.  It called me, then a somewhat robotic, somewhat British woman's voice gave me a four digit code to put into the web site so I could receive the Steam code.  I don't like giving out my phone number...frankly its easily gotten on the Internet anyway...but I just hate giving up data for the data miners.

"Really really good port to PC." Reminder that same crew made Just Cause 2 (one of my favorite games ever).

640x480 resolution is supported!!  :D
