Title: Spice Road
Post by: tgb on September 28, 2015, 02:41:01 PM
Since this is on sale this week for $10 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/293960/), and seems to scratch the same itch as Grand Ages Medieval, can someone who's played it chime in?  From what I've seen and read on both it seems to be deeper, but it would be nice to hear from someone who's played both and can compare and contrast.

GA:M is far, far more polished, based on about 30 minutes of playing either one.

However SR may be more detailed ultimately (even if not as physically large in playable area.)

Be aware that Spice Road's internal code is set up so that options only unlock in sandbox as you complete the relevant campaign mission steps.

Quote from: From SR's developerPlease note you can play Sandbox with all the unlocks immediately, just enter this skip code:

Code: "bentham" the author of Utopia
You get a sound effect when it is entered correctly.
Turn it off again by entering the same code.

There is no new upgrade path, you just get everything.
NB. this only impacts the Sandbox mode.

The Steam player reviews for SR are quite a bit better than the GA:M reviews.  Thanks that's solely because of expectations based on price ($10 to $40)?

Maybe also due to just expecting a different game with GAM. It isn't at all like GAR, etc.

Thanks.

I don't usually put a great deal of weight in user reviews.  People bearing grudges and pushing agendas can really warp those around.

Very true, unfortunately.
