Title: Day Z - looking for your thoughts guys
Post by: undercovergeek on October 14, 2015, 12:01:59 PM
There was a guy, once upon a time, im sure hes here somewhere called Markshot - all he seemed to play was '1830', loved it, all the intracacies, all the nuances of the game, he knew it like the back of his hand

I forget where (!) but i keep coming across a guy with a blog about his Day Z exploits, guys been playing for ages, just a few screenshots like - 'spotted this guy, followed him, waited til he left, stole his stuff', 'this guy tried to kill me but i got him first, hid his stuff in a barrel, will come back later because its too dangerous now', and he makes it sound so vibrant and cool

is it good, am i just going to get stabbed, shot and eaten if i play alone with no other friends as back up?

If you are interested in Day Z check out the Morgan Freeman plays Day Z videos. Some parts are hilarious.

Yeah, whatever happened to Markshot?  :(
Is it possible to play Day Z in single player mode? I'm having a lot of fun with 7 Days to Die. If it's anything like that I would love to know.

I've had Day-Z on my wishlist for quite awhile.  Because it doesn't seem to be focused on harvesting resources and building shit all the time.  I've worked in construction before, so those types of crafting-focused Survival games seem much more like work than fun to me.

Day-Z looks to be more focused on raw survival, as in shooting/avoiding direct threats and scrounging immediately useful items one way or another.  IIRC it's based on the ARMA 2 engine so that is a plus as far as the bloody bits go.

However, it seems to be one of those indie endeavors which will be in a very long-term Beta state.  That's the reason I've not bothered picking it up yet, and probably won't do so for awhile yet.  Because it'll still be a work-in-progress for a long time.
