Lock n' Load Tactical preorders are up. (http://forums.lnlpublishing.com/threads/lock-n-load-tactical-series-ready-for-deployment.2121/) I've preordered Heroes of the 'Nam, as I want to update my 1st edition Forgotten Heroes/ANZAC Attack; and Heroes of North Africa as I'm a Desert War fan and this game looks epic. Anyone else preordered?
Preordered Heroes Against the Red Star because I need another WW2 game like I need a relapse of chicken pox. Not that I don't want some of those games mind you...
Hi Pinetree
Just so you know Heroes Against the Red Star is a mid-80's World War III game and not a World War II game. Our World War II game on the Eastern Front will be Heroes of the Motherland.
Heroes Against the Red Star is an updated version of Heroes of the Gap with the expansion of Honneur et Patrie. You will have everything you need to play. This includes all the maps needed even those from the discontinued Heroes of the Blitzkrieg. Let me say that maps will not be mounted but on our new heavy card stock. It will now come with our new counters with the rounded edges. Any pre-orders will also include our new larger X-Maps. It will also include some extra scenarios from our Line of Fire magazine. We will have updated player aid cards and more of them and our new v4.1 of the rules.

Hi David - sorry, my post was confusing. I meant that I'd preordered Heroes Against the Red Star specifically because it wasn't a WW2 game, not because it was a WW2 game. I actually just did the Heroes of the Pacific review - and while I really like it and the other LnL WW2 games I have, I wanted a change of pace!
Great games, and looking forward to all of the re-issued and new games.
Speaking of WW2 and Heroes against the Red Star... what's the story behind the PzKpfw E-100 counter on the game's box art? Are there some extended-timeline WW2 alt-hist scenarios included in the game?
That's a what if the Belgians had built the E-100 or "found" some after WWII.
Interesting. What advantage would E-100s have given the Belgians over using something with inter-NATO compatibility such as the Chieftain?
Dunno... try the game and see. ;)
Honestly, it was just something that Mark Walker threw in for some fun in his alt-timeline.
Hey great review, I just didn't want you buying something for the wrong reason.
Just so you guys know there are a few items available to aid or enhance your Heroes of the Pacific game play.

That rules reference card is great stuff. Really comes in handy! I understand it'll be a standard part of all future games? O0

I tossed up between
Heroes Against the Red Star and
Heroes of North Africa but went with
Heroes of North Africa since I already had a modern title and I always wanted to give the desert scenarios a go in ASL but all the extra rules scared me. :D Also the 2nd NZ Div. was a major player there and there will probably be some scenarios for it down the track..

That is the plan.
Hi Guys
Another item that we are hoping to make standard in all of our Lock 'n Load Tactical games is our new Battle Generator. We are putting the finishing touches on our Heroes of the Pacific Battle Generator. We will have a FREE to download edition and also have a purchase edition. The purchase edition of course will be printed out.
The Battle Generator will allow you to build your own scenarios based on type of mission and battle size. If you own Heroes of the Nam you will be able to use those maps as well.
Expect it released shortly.
David
Day of Heroes pre-ordered for me. I've regretted trading that one away even if I couldn't understand the rules at the time. Seeing how clean and clear the rules are for "Pacific", I'm excited to get "Heroes" back into my collection!
I own all of the older LnL WW2 stuff other than HotB and would like to get an updated rule book. What would be the most compatible for me?

IIRC the core rule books are now online.

That's more aimed at the "modern" module of the system - Forgotten Heroes, Heroes of the Gap, Day of Heroes.
Use the Heroes of the Pacific rule book for now, until they get the WWII living rule book up.

The battle generator sounds like just what the doctor ordered! Really looking forward to that.

Maybe I was wrong about you and clipped counters.

Oh give me a home where the counters all roam,
Where the dice and combat results play,
Where seldom is heard a clipping chirp,
And the edges are not clipped all day.
Games, home on the range,
Where the dice and combat results play,
Where seldom is heard a clipping chirp,
And the edges are not clipped all day.
Where the cardboard so pure, and the control zones so free,
The dice so shiny and bright,
That I would not exchange my counters on the board,
For all of the corners clipped tight.
Bob's corners were pressed from this part of the west,
They're likely no more to return,
To the pre-orders of GMT where seldom if ever
Their clipping counters burn.
How often at night when the game lights are bright,
Wondering by the height what's in it,
Have I pondered there amazed and asked as I gazed,
If a dozen counters were over the limit.
Oh, I love these wild counters in this dear land of ours,
The punches I love to hear cry,
And I love the white chads and the paper flocks,
That pile like mountain of sprues high.
Oh give me a land where the on beaches I land,
Storming leisurely down Dog Red;
Where the graceful paratroopers go gliding along,
Like the panzers clobbering Reds.
Then I would not exchange my counters on the range,
Where the dice and combat results play;
Where seldom is heard a clipping chirp,
And the edges are not clipped all day.

I played Dawn's Early Light this weekend.... I am probably going to pre-order Heroes Against the Red Star. I have no experience with this system, however it looks like a lot of fun. I may pre-order another, but not really sure.
