It is an understatement for me to say that I am thrilled to actually have a decorated ex-solider as our new MND!

Can he be the Secretary of Defense for the US too? Who would mess with that guy?

You are on to something here. Why can't we vote for SecDef?
Obama has emasculated the post over here.
I had to applaud this particular choice for National Defense minister, well done.

Cabinet position.
I can certainly see the, "Decorated" part. Must take him 3 hours to get dressed in the morning. Probably a good choice because I don't think anybody wants to make this guy mad at you.

Know that I did.
Very good to see!
Any trouble, anywhere in the world, and just refer the trouble to him. Problem solved.

He looks like a cross between Gimli and Rambo.
Right on, this looks like the man for that position.
Ramli or Gimbo?
Glamli.
Turns out he invented his own gas mask so he could use it and still keep his beard.
Hopefully he has some decent policy ideas. Couldn't find anything about his platform stances on his webpage.

Wow. Just the opposite of an infamous Austrian painter.
And they're embracing diversity too.

Look up Sam Hughes or Andy McNaughton and then extoll to me how great a defence minister who served in the military "just has" to be.
On a related note, the list of Victoria Cross recipients who led uncertain and unproductive lives after being rewarded for unthinkable military bravery is, sadly, long.
I have no reason to think our new MND will fall in the same category - but like the rest of the new government, he hasn't yet had a chance to do anything yet in their new position, either. I hope he has good luck - better than some of the other soldiers before him. Paul Hellyer comes to mind.
I bet you're great at parties.
Meds will help. BTW, for those who don't know, Paul Hellyer is a loon!

I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about the way he trashed the military by combining them into the Canadian Armed Forces, based apparently on his dislike for the way his own military service panned out. Integration wasn't a bad idea - but Unification is something the three branches of the military are still recovering from fifty years later.
He is proof that just because someone served in the military, they are not somehow automatically imbued with the wisdom to run one.
Double post
^Yeah except the first part of what you posted is clearly untrue going by your last three posts. A "conversation" goes in multiple directions Michael Dorosh, not just the way you want it to go.

Why yes...yes I do.
Ok, first I winced. Then I shuddered, and not in a good way. :(
I fell for it. Oh well.
Ah, but it worked. I have successfully changed the subject!
Boobies, the great equalizer.

Funny stuff.
I think the Canadian Army could have took Caen within a couple of days. With the help of some UFOs. And Meds.
Some ongoing news in Canada about our 'badass' defence minister:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/sajjan-apology-operation-medusa-1.4093270
Kind of overblown reaction in my opinion, but doubtless he exaggerated his own role. Still, he *did* serve three tours and may be restricted in what he can say about some of the sensitive work he did.
As usual, the opposition is calling for his head.
