For all your basketball goodness
guys who play because they love the game

QuoteThen, the icing: 10 days later, in its next home game, Caltech beat La Verne 70–69. In three weeks the team had equaled the number of conference wins from the previous 43 years.
talking about recruiting
QuoteOne of last year's top recruits had to settle for his safety school, MIT.

For those who follow the Warriors and Game of Thrones :)
Higher toral this year:
Warriors' losses or Sixers' wins?
A perfect basketball Saturday.
UNC won (beat NCSU who played well - sorry Brant).
Dook lost, at home, to an unranked team! I guess they forgot to sacrifice enough children to Satan.
Auburn beat Kentucky at home!
Auburn beating Kentucky was a shocker. The line was 11.5 point underdog. Auburn has lost two of their 3 starting guards. A walk-on got two minutes of play. Kentucky shot horribly (36% from the floor) and short-handed Auburn played their hearts out. Only the 2nd AU win against Kentucky in the last 33 meetings.
I think I've seen AU's men beat Kentucky 3 times in the last 28 seasons. As a season (scholarship) ticket holder to AU Men's Basketball, this was a fun and unexpected win.
State is playing like a barrel of putrid fish this year. It'll be a miracle if they make the tournament
Congrats to Auburn! The Round Table were just discussing this yesterday. Auburn is down some serious talent and to take out Kentucky is a feather in Perl's cap!
Watched an impressive K-State women's game today against TCU.
So YOU'RE the one!

I also saw Auburn's Women beat Alabama on Thursday. Auburn played their best game of the season on that one.
AUs men play Alabama next home game.
I hope to God you don't have to watch Auburn play UCONN. That team is a monster this year.
Auburn's Men had their 2nd straight sellout (including standing room) for the Alabama game. Auburn won and is at 500 in conference play.
May not sound like much, but for Auburn basketball this is amazing.
They need a distraction from football season down there, huh? ;)

Different State, same results.
UNC is #1 again this week. This is after winning 3 straight games shooting less than 40% from the floor.
They get Boston College and then the schedule gets tough.
In what poll? I thought I heard on the radio that Oklahoma was still number 1.
Two different polls one has Oklahoma #1 the other has NC #1.
I was listening to CBS Radio. So that makes sense.
Big XII is a monster conference this year. I think 1/2 of the conference gets into the 64 easily.
I wish I could say I was paying attention enough to respond to this intelligently, but I'm not. I know Iowa State took out Oklahoma and Kansas was number one for a while. Outside that, I really don't know.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did they do something?
They beat the #1 team in the nation.
So I don't normally give two shits about the NBA, but if you can find the highlights from last night's slam dunk contest, go watch it. There's a ball-around-the-back reverse slam, better-than-Jordan-between-the-legs-from-the-free-throw-line slam, a guy pulling the ball off the mascot's head and looping it under his legs while in the air before slamming it, and palming it off a mascot's hands while the mascot is spinning 360s on a hoverboard and slamming it (and that guy lost!).
I'm not big for crazy stunts like that in a game, but in an exhibition, it's fun, and watching the highlights from last night, they were having plenty of fun.
Just saw this about the NBA. We're over 2/3rds of the way through the season, and San Antonio still has single-digit losses.
They're 45-9 through 56 games, with 26 games to go, which is pretty damned good.
Yeah, they're still 4 games behind Golden State.
It's not like Golden State are feasting on a weak conference. Sheesh.
This is a horrifying train wreck to watch. Rutgers may have the worst Men's major conference Basketball Team in forever.
See: https://sports.vice.com/en_us/article/by-the-numbers-rutgers-may-end-up-as-the-worst-major-conference-basketball-team-ever
Brant - NCSU is not NEARLY this bad.
Airboy - Auburn won one more conference game this year (5) than last year (4) - even with the train wreck of injuries and dismissing the leading scorer and only remaining point guard! War Eagle!!

UNC beat the spawns of Satan and clinched the ACC regular season. Texas A&M won the SEC regular season - which was a surprise.
So everyone knows the Warriors are on a record pace for wins in the NBA, but no one has noticed what the Spurs are doing. They might win 70 themselves.
Let's put this another few ways:
No one has ever won 70 and not won the league
No one has ever won 69 and not won the league
No one has ever won 68 and not won the league
In fact, the last team to win 68 that was not the Jordan-led Chicago Bulls... the 72-73 Boston Celtics.
The list of teams that have won at least 68 regular-season games is
66-67 Philly 76ers
71-72 LA Lakers
72-73 Boston Celtics
95-96 Chicago Bulls
96-97 Chicago Bulls
that's it. Five teams. Ever
We might get 2 in one season, and because they're in the same conference, San Antonio could win 70 games and finish 3 games back. Let that sink in for a second...
UNC won the ACC regular season and tournament.
Dook did not.
Last time a team did both in the ACC they got a 2-seed (Miami)...

lol, so now seeing how it all played out, Warriors on the verge of closing it out.
Also, am I the only one here that thinks Lebron is the biggest DB in sports....enquiring minds want to know. I really hope the Warriors do it tonite even without Dreymon....I want to see Lebron cry.....
I am not a Lebron fan and I like Steve Kerr, but I'd love to see a Cavs upset win tonight.
Not a big basketball fan, but I live in the cleveland area so hoping they can win....if that does happen, tops off a crazy week with pens winning the cup last Sunday and then this.

I'm not sure an NBA title will change that.
HOLY SHIT!
No effin way!
Even as I typed it, I did not believe it could happen.

I hate to say it, but Lebron is pretty much the greatest NBA player of all time now.

QuoteAfterward, LeBron got hold of a clipped-down net, a college basketball tradition. He turned it into a nylon necklace, sporting it around his neck to accessorize an oversized cigar in his mouth as he walked with his children in tow this Father's Day. To the victors go the smoking ordinances, and LeBron James was so dominant in this series, not even an Oakland cop would dare cite him.
LeBron is an absolute beast.
So, now that Cleveland has finally won a title, which major sports city is the most sad and pathetic? Toronto? Washington? I'm leaving out Cincy and San Diego since they only have teams in 2 of the 4 major sports leagues.
Yeah, but no one in San Diego cares because if their team sucks, they just go to the beach instead.

Nah, he's still a douche, the game 4 shenanigans he pulled to instigate a suspension is BS and unprofessional. Jordan or Kobe never had to dare the league to suspend the opposing teams best shot blocker so he could gain the advantage.
It soured his image to complain last year that the Warriors only won because he was missing Kyre and Love, but this year you didn't hear a peep of whining from steph or the warriors that they didn't close it out because of injured steph, injured boggit, or suspended dreymon.
But hey kudos to Lebum for maximizing the opportunity the league gave him.
So If your the Warriors that made history with 73 wins, then cap it off with a crushing history making defeat of being the first team to give up a 3-1 lead ....What do you do.....You sign Kevin Durant.....
