Would you put boots on the ground or carpet bomb those terrorists?
Great stuff. :D
I never actually saw any people on Alderran. Did you?
For a Death Star full of Imperial Stormtroopers, I'm surprised they actually didn't miss the planet ... just sayin'. 8)

Yes, it's totally out of character, isn't it?
Well to get all technical it was the Imperial Navy who fired the shot from the Death Star, eh? Not storm troopers.
Rebel scum.
This the same imperial navy that was able to lose an entire starship (the millenium Falcon) when it flew by the bridge!

At the first viewing of the movie did you not think that was a great hiding space? Come on now.
I like how Family Guy showed those Imperial some dog fighting skills

You won't be sorry to learn that in 38 years, the Imperial aim hasn't gotten any better. Nor have the massive weapon systems avoided the one tiny vulnerable spot to hit to blow the shit out of it.
^SPOILERS!!!

^SPOILERS!!!
Please.
This is Star Wars we're talking about.
If you wanted a decent plot twist you'd wait for the next even numbered Star Trek.
Star Trek movie titles aren't numbered now. In fact, they don't even have colons anymore... :-\
Con, in terms of losing the Millenium Falcon close to the bridge, this could be similar to the Doppler effect in sonar.
Within a certain distance of the pinging destroyer, the return pong couldn't be heard. Depends on your equipment, but was a big issue in World War II depth charge attacks.
Now why that problem with returning sound would be an issue in space is another question.
In space, nobody can hear you ping.
And if you're Imperial, it's considered "un-manly" to look out the window to see where your enemy just went to.

Even Imperials can hit the broad side of a planet.
There's a threshold somewhere. Planet-sized objects are on the "can hit" side.
