A very Happy New Year to all my fellow grogs, from a rather damp and soggy UK.
Well, it's also rather damp and soggy here in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Happy New Year Grogheads!!!
O0
Happy New Year.
Should we give a prize to whomever manages to be the first one to get used to writing 2016 for the date?
Happy New Year's!
In my boring old man fashion, I'll be ringing in the new year playing a game or asleep. :)
Happy (slightly EST premature) New Year!
Happy New Year guys...I just thought this summed it up:
...I'd rather stay here
With all the madmen
Than perish with the sadmen roaming free
And I'd rather play here
With all the madmen
For I'm quite content they're all as sane as me
^Good tune!
I've been a lifelong bowie fan, even after 'Scary Monsters'.
Happy 2016 to all my Grog-Comrades. Hope all of your Supply Lines stay intact and it's always shitty weather over your enemy's Capital.
Merry Christmas from the Central Time Zone!!

It's so strange with him. I wasn't much for the Tin Machine material but started getting back into his 90's stuff. Loved Outside and then he released The Earthling and I didn't care for it at all. Put it on tonight and can't stop listening to it. After being a life long fan, like yourself, I thought I had finally caught up to his time zone but he did it again.
And now he has a new album dropping this week on his birthday (Jan 8th) when he will be 69 years old. I can't even wrap my head around that :)
Happy New Year! to all Grogs O0
... i love the smell of blackpowder in the morning :D
smells like New Years morn :)
my fireworks selection worked well, we had a clear sky, no fog development from the fireworks display also and with 4°C quit warm for that night.
there were 'heavy shelling' all around in the neighborhood, but no damage ...just like it has to be!
(and i did not heard one single siren from firetruck, ambulance or cops squawking in my whole area the whole night, which is a good sign my whole part of the town had a wonderful eve and a good start into the new year)
Well apart from messaging Bob and getting drunk answerphone messages from employees I saw in the new year playing eu4 - didn't even know the time until the fireworks extravaganza went off outside - 'oh, it's new year' and back to pillaging Muslims
Happy new year fine men of the forum
Happy Newyear, Nerds! ;)
Happy New Year!
We never make it to midnight any more.... but do make our own fireworks! ^-^
Did any of you make any resolutions? Besides hunkering down in an internet-less bunker during all the Steam sales, that is...
I'm going to spend a year living like mirth and then getting dipped in bleach on New Year's Eve

I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I master the art of naval warfare in Battleship.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I upgrade to Windows XP.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I purchase every miniature made by Games Workshop.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I will no longer become mildly aroused by the UST between Mirth, Star, and Gus.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year MD laughs at one of my puns.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I sort my boardgame collection and organize it alphabetically by the person who wrote the rules.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I convince Robert Kirkman to introduce polearms to the Walking Dead.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year Staggerwing takes a leap forward in technology and starts appreciating the technical superiority of the monoplane.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I don't belly at reading Windy's proselytizing attempts to convert a new, unsuspecting reader to his hokey religion.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year Brant doesn't use Smuck as a bikini-clad booth babe at Origins.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I catch a photo of Bob's mustache in the wild.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I convince Banzai Cat to adopt a dog.
I have resolved that this year is going to be the year I take Toonces shopping for shoes at a Bass Pro - in the men's department.

I made three:
1) Give up drinking soda
2) Go into business for myself
3) Not to laugh at any of LB's puns.
Good luck with numbers 1 and 2, anyway.

LOL @ LB.
So we got a little snow up here the other day. I get up, gotta take the dog out. Slip on my Uggs, take the dog out into the yard, and I look down. "Man, these Uggs make mighty fine sponges." ::)

They can be waterproofed, but the color may be ruined by the water.

Happy New Year motherhonkers!
Commander it is my unfortunate duty to inform you that on Monday the low temperature in my neck of the woods will be 7 degrees. It will likely be close to that in your neck of the woods.
Prepare.

Oooh. Seven degrees? We're not quite that cold, but I may break out the blast furnace boots for fun anyway.
The forecast low here for Monday will be...... 48 degrees! :o Where the hell did I leave my long pants last March? Maybe it'll get cool enough to have a fire in the fireplace this year.

7 degrees ? 48 degrees ? pfff, you guys still measure temperature derived from the armlength and ass temperature of some gone English king ;) ???
This year with a strong El Niño (ENSO) phenomena in full swing all weather patterns will be a little different anyway
here in my place we had meteorological the Sept. followed by an Oct. , and a second Oct. , and a third Oct. , and now the calendric January starts of like a rainy Nov.
On 2nd Xmas day, the 26.12., i was even able to sit in the garden in shorts and smoke a pipe at noon (14°C at 300m ASL, and sunny)
My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it!

Damn straight!
Well, my truck gets 40 Hogheads to the Rod. I have no idea what that means but it must be impressive somewhere.

Grandpa bbmike says, "The metric system is a tool of the devil! My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it."
So our unit of measure that we are interested is a distance per unit volume of gas consumed. The unit in the USA and Great Britain anyway all would know is miles per gallon, or m.p.g., so we will convert into these units from rods/hogshead.
1. We must find the relevant conversions between the units. Let us begin with length. One rod is the equivalent of 16.5 feet as defined in the English system of measure. We also know that there are 5,280 feet in one mile. We put this all together as follows,
$${1\:rod}\times\frac{16.5\:feet}{1\:rod}\times\frac{1\:mile}{5,280\:feet}=$$$$=3.125\times10^{-3}\:miles,\:\:\:\left(1\right)$$
which gives us our conversion between miles/rods yielding 320 rods in one mile (obtained by taking the reciprocal to the final answer in equation (1), and moving it to the other side).
2. Next we must find a conversion for going between the units of volume measured in hogsheads to the more familiar gallon. Looking this up, we find that there are 63 US gallons in 1 hogshead.
3. Now we put it all together as,
$$\frac{40\:rod}{1\:Hogshead}\times\frac{16.5\:feet}{1\:rod}\times\frac{1\:mile}{5,280\:feet}\times\frac{1\:Hogshead}{63\:gallons}=$$$$=\frac{40\:rod}{1\:Hogshead}\times\frac{1\:mile}{320\:rods}\times\frac{1\:Hogshead}{63\:gallons}=0.00198\:mpg.\:\:\:\left(2\right)$$
Note the atrocious mileage Grandpa used to get... ;D
Yes, but think of the face-cords of power that engine has!
LOL. Happy New Year, you crazy coots! I'm glad to be counted as one of you. 8)

Yes!

I love the horrible photoshop pic of what she really wants for 2016.
On second thoughts, meh!
Too much work to break it down like you did. I set out to stop drinking Dr.Pepper, or any soda for that matter. I have GERD, and when I smoke and drink soda, I have terrible pains that simulate a heart attack. So, I stopped the soda. Had the cigarette thing down, too, until a couple of months ago. Also increased my monthly savings from $25 to $100. I killed the cable and put $75 of the $90 I got back in the budget into savings. Autodeducted, so I don't even see it. As far as interior maintenance, I am pretty good at sorting what is important to me and leaving what's out of my control in the hands of those it belongs to. Still too apt to get angry easily over things that should have already been handled by people that know better and don't. But, we all have our own things to work on. ;)

Don't forget about your intolerance for puns. You really need to work on that. :))
I was thinking it was the fault of the people who mangle the language and just plain, good, sense. :2funny:
My doctor is on my ass about my Blood Sugar always. So, I set out to finally get that under control this year and make him happy. And maybe get his hand out of my wallet a little too. :-X

Why did you do that - it was a good read?
I'm not in administration any longer. I'm going to the gym 3x a week. I'm in the best physical shape I've been in 15 years or so now. I lifted > 25,000lbs on my circuit of 10 machines two passes in a row. Most I ever did routinely was 28,000lbs in my early 30s.
