Kind of a nice summary

It is going to be a busy year! Strange that they forgot Polaris Sector.

You misspelled Stellaris.
lmao that too - although i see master of orion in there too and endless space 2
They still have Flagship on their strategy games list.
I thought that got cancelled after its Kickstarter failed over a year ago. Is it being resurrected?
Interesting.
But a lot of these games are already available, as Open Betas, Early Access and such.
Where's Oriential Empires?

Where's Oriential Empires?
Maybe since it is just entering early access in Q1 2016 they haven't guaranteed an actual full release yet...just guessing.
From the article
QuoteThe list currently contains 308 games and we've excluded hundreds we think look like guff. We've probably also failed to remember or find some great looking games too, however. What PC games are you looking forward to in 2016? Tell us in the comments below and we'll update this list throughout the year so its information and excited descriptions are always up to date.
I was also disappointed Oriental Empires wasn't on the list.
Also, they included Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak but called it Homeworld: Shipbreakers.
i am missing a page called "Wargaming" in that list

youre missing the snort of derision that a mainstream site like that would deliver at the very thought
a - theres no pink tanks, or enough women reopresented
b - not enough sanitary towels modelled
c- no rabbits and sewing and other girl things
Spot on, Geek.

Yeah, those 'Wargames' (RTS) were tanks chasing each other in a dogfight and typical engagements on the map are so close that they are almost do fencing with their barrels ::)
I have to say at the moment, nothing completely blows me away where I am greatly waiting for a certain game to be released....there are some that interests me, but nothing that will make me go nuts in waiting for them (i.e. Hearts of Iron, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Xcom2, Warhammer, etc.). Maybe I am just in a funk with games entirely, still amazed through all the holiday sales I only picked up one $5 game and that was it. Maybe 2016 will save me a lot of money:)

Perhaps it's because there is little that's actually really new? So many of these games are iterations of titles that we've played before. It's not that they're bad; just nothing to blow wind up your skirt.
2016 is all about Paradox for me. Hearts of Iron IV is my most anticipated release in years, and I'm excited about how Stellaris is shaping up. The only thing that could top this off would be an announcement that work has begun on Victoria III...
+1 to your post Sandman. I think there is real hope for V3 announcement by end of 2016 or first half of 2017. Timing depends on when they get HOI4 out and stabilized. I also think the fact that a new patch, perhaps more than one, is coming out also gives hope for a new V3.
If they do V3, it needs something though. EU series has a long time frame and HOI series has a lot of depth. Not sure what, but needs something a little more.
I'm pretty excited about the many medieval-themed games on the horizon, including Mount and Blade 2. That's a definite day 1 buy.

Agreed. I fully intend to sink countless hours into both games, and Victoria 3 would be awesome as I haven't played any game in that series yet.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance looks great. I think it was SoM who first posted about here a few years ago.

I am in the alpha access program....its promising but still a lot to add.
I'm most looking forward to That which Sleeps (although it's looking less likely by the day), XCOM 2, and the final build of Offworld Trading Company. I'm in a couple of closed betas for Slitherine titles, both of which look very good. One is almost done, and the other needs more time in the oven but is showing potential.
Oh, and I'm hoping that the PC version of Twilight Struggle a)actually makes it out and b)has a single-player game that isn't a complete POS.
Currently, my top three anticipated releases for 2016 are (in order)
Stellaris,
Warhammer Total War, and
Oriental Empires. This if, of course, assuming they all come out this year (of those three, Warhammer is the only one with a more-or-less firm release date).
Other strategy titles I'm looking forward to include
Lord of Rigel,
Polaris Sector,
M.O.R.E. (if it ever escapes development purgatory),
Imperia 5X, and perhaps
Civilization VI if it does end up getting announced later this year (as has been rumored for some time now). I know there's also
Endless Space 2 and the
Master of Orion reboot due out later this year, but I just can't work up much excitement for them; I'm kinda hoping they'll be sleeper hits for me.
As for non-strategy titles, I've long had my eye on
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, progress has resumed on
Limit Theory, and I'd forgotten (til now -- thanks
Toonces!) that
Mount & Blade 2 was in the works.

I'm really hoping the devs are just in crunch mode and deliberately staying out of sight until they can suddenly announce an advanced beta out of the blue. The game looks
way too good to fail now!

My list is similar to yours (as usual). Seems like 2016 will be more fun than 2015.
-
Oriental Empires-
Stellaris-
Master of Orion (i am a huge fan of the first and unfortunately they don't seem to get it right, still a must buy for me even it may be the weaker of the the 4 games in the series).
-
Polaris Sector-
Endless Space 2 (despite the fact that i never really fell in love with the first one, played just a couple of campaigns).
-
Lord of RigelImperia 5 looks interesting
As long as they ditch the hexes and one unit/one hex, I'm in for Civ VI!

What has the community been saying about that? Personally I didn't have much of a problem with one unit/one hex.
Oh yay a Master of Orion remake. We haven't seen that before.
Stellaris and XCOM 2 are my only day 1 buys right now. I'll probably end up getting HoI IV as well. Looking forward to Fallout 4, Cities Skyline, CK2, and EUIV DLC.
I'd love to see The Elders Scrolls VI this year. Hopefully an E3 announcement with a fall release similar to Fallout 4.

Fairly sure I am in the minority here, Huw. To be honest, I haven't played one second of Civ V. Although, I did watch for a couple of hours when some of the luminaries here played. I didn't like anything that I saw, so, I haven't bothered to fire it up again.
But it's newer, therefore it must be shinier and betterer!

I disagree here. I LIKE the way Civ V handles the units. The massive Stack of Doom just didn't work for me.

Better than "Stack of doom". Makes life harder for you when you get powerful.
Dear Lord a new Elder Scrolls game would be most welcome.
I'm sure Civ VI is in the works. I'm equally sure we won't hear about it until the hubbub over XCOM 2 dies down. Criswell predicts it will be announced this Summer as a Q4 release, and then slip into 2017.

I totally understand what you are both saying. Some of my friends here have played close to (or over) a thousand hours of Civ V and give me crap all the time about my not liking the game because of hexes and one unit per. And therein lies the good thing about games and people. You can like what you like and find something that scratches that itch. V does nothing for me. And you guys like it. Vive le difference!
Martok's list looks good, so I'm adopting it for myself.
As far as the stack of doom vs one unit per hex. I was never a big fan of the stack of doom, but it is easier for the AI to handle. The AI cannot effectively manage the one unit per hex, so I feel like even if heavily outgunned I can still win against the AI. Now, if I ever played another human, I'd probably get squished.
:) Easy solution for that ^
I don't want to get squished!
That game takes forever just playing the AI, it must take months to play a game with humans.
^You should try playing with Metal Dog :)
I have it on good authority that the only thing that slows me down is talking during my turn. And if I'm breathing, I'm talking.

Going by this post (http://forums.ltheory.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4640#p106965), Josh resumed active work on the game back in July.
Since then, it sounds like he's been steadily plugging away at development -- and in a healthier/more consistent manner than he was prior to his breakdown. He's keeping his proverbial cards a lot closer to his vest now, not posting as much as he used to, but that's probably just as well. Before his breakdown, I suspect Josh spent too much time in the forums anyway. :P

I've long read this regarding 4 versus 5, and it's one reason I've played the former more than the latter. (Another is that I actually like 4's visuals more, believe it or not.) Unless a sequel boasts features/mechanics that I really, *really* like, I generally prefer the iteration that has better AI, all else being equal.
If you're getting psyched up for XCOM 2 next month, RPS's glowing preview will make you very happy indeed --

YES! :D :D :D :D
Don't forget to watch TotalBiscuit's video on XCOM2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqLNE8VXDGU)!
been watching lets plays all week, reading what i can, id be wearing a hydra warrior suit if i could
I am disappointed you don't already wear that suit just because 'it's Thursday'
Haven't quite got the tongue flicking sorted yet
I don't believe you.
If your looking for a cheap place for pre order of Xcom 2....cdkeys has for $30...pretty good deal...just the standard version though, but since that is $59 at most other places, pretty much half price.
http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/xcom-2-pc-cd-key-steam
I wasn't planning to buy Xcom 2 right away, but after reading the previews and the good price at cdkeys, I caved:)
^This game...this game here...I will not be able to not get it right away. Looks absolutely unbelievable and has the lineage to back it up. Fingers-crossed.
2 weeks!!
I am in love with it. I must posess it fully.
go watch martoks warhammer video in the other thread
Full disclosure: I am not getting TW: Warhammer immediately at release. I'm just not. I still have to win my current Shogun 2 campaign (more than half way there!) and then start an Age of Charlemagne campaign. In between playing some other games including the new Homeworld-based one. And Mad Max. And Oriental Empires when it's released. And Pillars of Eternity.

I hear you only too well,
Gus. Also, your "to-do" list is eerily similar to my own.
I've really enjoyed what time I've spent with the
Age of Charlemagne campaign, but still want to play a lot more of it.
Pillars of Eternity strongly beckons as well, as does
Homeworld (Remastered Edition) -- and in general, I really want to make sure I actually play the games I've purchased during the various autumn/holiday sales this time around (at least I kept it to a small handful this time around, but still). :knuppel2: And as you said, there's
Oriental Empires coming out -- plus
Stellaris for me... Gah!
All that being said, I'm thinking what I might do is
sell my soul pre-order
Warhammer TW (might as well get the Chaos faction for free since I know I'm going to end up getting the bloody game anyway ::) ), but then hold off on actually playing it til the first patch or two is out. Given the typical state in which Total War titles are generally released (hey, even
Rome II -- which I would have sex with if I could -- wasn't in such hot shape at first), I doubt I'll miss out on much by waiting a few weeks to dive into it...especially when there's already so much other excellent gaming to be had!
The Chaos factor does make me stop and think. I need to remain strong though. And if you do have sex with Rome 2 at least you waited until all he major bugs were squashed. Just make sure you use some Emperor's Edition condoms.

Ok, now that was funny! O0
I'm holding off. While I'm sure I'll get it eventually, I'm not a huge Warhammer fan, and like Gus, I have a huge backlog of Total War to get through. In fact, besides M2TW, I really haven't gotten my money's worth out of any of the other Total War titles. For as much as I love the series, I truly don't play it enough.
Commander you owe it to yourself to play all iterations of Shogun 2.
Martok do you have a link to the High King edition?
You guys don't get it. It's not the games we PLAN to play, it's the games, that the games, TELL US to play. That we end up playing. I'm still planning to finish Skyrim like the government plans to cut spending. After I lose weight and go back to college. :idiot2:
Heh. You may be onto something there,

Thanks Martok, I will look at this later on a proper PC. And once again send you the receipt!
You're welcome, Gus. But I'm now very doubtful that I'm getting the High King Edition myself. I hadn't actually checked out the price til now, and it's a *lot* steeper than I would've guessed (especially if you don't live in the UK).
I probably should've known better, given the regular edition is already going to be $59.99 (and how much of that is greed on Sega's part, or if the price is a reflection of some sort of automatic cut/markup for Games Workshop, I have no idea), but I was blindsided anyway. :-[
I am really curious to see which game is coming out first...i have no idea at this point! We could stratégie The best.
