Title: upcoming 4x release dates
Post by: RedArgo on January 08, 2016, 08:56:45 AM
I don't think I saw this posted here yet, but I am interested to some degree in all of these.

From Brad Wardell, so take it for what its worth.

Be careful what you wish for.

Next year all the 4X's are going to come out.  What I write below is not under some NDA. I know it because it's my job to know it.

Let me walk you through the schedule:

1H2016: Stellaris, Master of Orion

2H2016: Civilization VI, Endless Space 2

I could be wrong on the dates. You could swap some of this around a bit but you get the idea.

I've not seen anything official about Civ6, just speculation, I think mostly just based on how long it has been since Civ 5.

In the past I'd have been salivating over MOO and Civ 6, but I'm more in a wait and see on those.  Between an unknown studio (at least to me) doing MOO and the, in my opinion, lackluckster opening releases of Civ 4 and 5 (these ended up great) and BE, I'll see what you guys think before I jump.

Stellaris is the one that has me all excited.

Our own Martok mentioned he has seen some chatter on Civ6 in another PC gaming thread here a few days ago.

In the spirit of honesty, I've seen *other* people say they've picked up chatter about Civ6 being announced later this year.  I myself can claim nothing more substantive than farts in the wind -- less than that, really.

Of course, it's been over five years since Civ V came out, so I imagine we're about due for a new one.

That's for medicinal purposes only.

My dog says 'farts in the wind can be quite substantial.'
