Homeworld Deserts of Kharak, Elite:Dangerous, maybe some Satellite Reign?
Going to continue as Italy in Hearts of Iron II. It's summer of '40. The Germans are rampaging through Northern Europe and I have just declared on Greece. Once they are wrapped up, Yugoslavia is next. When I'm not playing that, it'll be Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning on the PS3.

CURIOUS EXPEDITION from gog.com its even better than I thought if you like random rogues
Me v con in a cmbs pbem - still convinced there is just me on the map and a grenade launching fool on the other side
Me v cyrano in a HoN pbem
Me v KyzBP in a witp pbem - too many plans and not enough men
I'm overjoyed to have got the release date of xcom 2 wrong by 2 weeks - I thought it was mid February not early and so far I've managed to not buy anything
To fill the void I rebooted wargame airland battle and got smashed so I'll go back to that this weekend

I'm eventually going to get all these pretenders to my crown to start spelling FRIDAY properly ;)
I believe the rules were quite clearly laid down some time ago - Friday in capitals and a YouTube link to music to upset your good self - some Bon jovi iirc
If you post Bon Jovi, I'm coming across the pond and explain some things to you in person :knuppel2:
I am considering to play:
- Master of Orion
- some Birth of the Federation (my Romulan campaign)
- Grand Ages: Rome
Making a break of Medieval Total War II (ate up all my time the last 2 weeks).

The only one you have to blame is yourself. :buck2:
I'm not getting up at 4:30 just to start the FRIDAY thread. :P
I have a lot to do this weekend gaming-wise, most of it for this site.
Finish a review of Tank Battle: Pacific (yet another Hunted Cow presentation)
Do some more for my Fleet Commander Nimitz AAR
Do some more for my D&D Pool of Radiance AAR
Play some Heroes of Normandy
Finish off my Car Wars nostalgia mega-article
Play some Healthy Heart Hospital
As well as rehearsals and a podcast somewhere in there, too.
More Elite Dangerous, and PBEM BoN with panzerde.

Yet he will get up at 4:30 to post Sting videos, so...
No idea for a change.
Probably some Federal and State taxes v1.15
Beyond that...maybe some Grim Dawn
I'd like to get some Squad going. Not sure what else yet, maybe CK2.
Speaking of Elite, did you guys see that article on RPS where a bunch of guys are going on a 3-month long exploration trip to some super far part of the galaxy? Pretty interesting stuff.
Might be time to get back into it...I have it installed, but for some reason am hesitant.
Continuing my WitP:AE campaign as the USA and, to my surprise, I'm back into Skyrim yet again.
Probably same as last weekend - some Fear Equation and Darkest Dungeon.
I'm waiting on new builds of three games I'm beta testing, so if any of those come through I'll show it some love.
Table top gaming tonight. Hoping to play Dragon Age: Inquisition this weekend, but I have the kids and console/tv availability will probably be limited. The fallback game will be The Witcher on PC. Unless, I decide to re-sub to SWTOR which I've been toying with.
My Shogun 2 campaign is officially stalemated. And after 200 plus turns I am fatigued. So I am setting it aside...for now.
Excited to start playing Mad Max, Homeworld Remastered and Metal Gear Solid V...and Toonces reminded me I have to load Elite onto my new machine.
First off is getting my turn to Jason... thanks for being patient with me. :-[
Then there's PBEM Wing Leader with SDR.... his CV's are in for some more bashing ... if I can survive the flak!
Maybe some VASSAL work.
Some more car work.
Then maybe I can start trying to paint a new set on minis I just received.... haven't painted minis in about 25 years.....
Excellent Gordon Lightfoot song!
Getting my handicap down to below 8 in The Golf Club. Don't laugh as it was at 32 while I learned the game.
CMRT PBEM withstanding a massive German attack.
Total of 30K tons of shipping sunk after my fifth Silent Hunter III patrol with the excellent Grey Wolves mod.
Great video JH. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum is a great place to visit to see all the many ships lost on the Great Lakes including the Fitzgerald. It's right on Whitefish Bay close to where she went down. Pillars of Eternity where I just found a cave full of Giant Spiders and one really big Ogre.

Speaking of, thanks for the quick note on how to get files out of a VASSAL file. I was able to start redoing the map for Mosby's Raiders, though it'll take some time.

Cool bean! Just ask away if you need more help.
CMANO, starting Northern Fury 6: Keflavik Capers.
Other then that, taking my oldest to a father-daughter dance tomorrow.
Wurm Online as usual. My new project is to build a boat. I got tired of only catching the tiniest of fish so I thought I'd build a boat to sail out onto the middle of the lake that borders the village. However building a boat is a huge project for a character of my low skills which is why I've left it for the weekend. I doubt I'll play much else.
If there is time, though:
Divinity: Original Sin. The release of the enhanced edition also marked the release of the Linux port, so I picked it up this week after being a bit disappointed with Pillars of Eternity. I've only done the tutorial so far but it's looking excellent.
Ark: Survival Evolved: I seriously doubt I'll get around to this on the weekend but I'd like to.
I spent two hours last night figuring out why my HOTAS X wasn't working properly with Evochron Legacy. (And in the game! :D ) So I suppose I'll finally do the tutorials sometime.
My Empyrion campaign will be shifting into the design-and-build-a-non-interplanetary-ship phase. I can't imagine I'll actually get to the interplanetary ship phase in seven days, but I should be able to properly "fly" by then (per the AAR title). Found the main enemy base last night and at least two expansion bases, plus two of this planet's five iron deposits -- which unfortunately are both far from my base in rough terrain. And the drones have found the closer deposit and seem to be posting a guard on it. How to resolve this dilemma, hmmm...
DC3:Barbie with Barth, presumably. As those who have been following along already know... I'm, uh, still Russia In Barbarossa, and even still in July Barbarossa. I'm expected to lose, the only question being by how much. SHALL I DARE TO HAVE ANY HOPE IN RAGNAROK!? (No. :P )
I was hoping I would be enjoying the smell of fresh counters in the morning, in the form of Putin Strikes (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=15862.msg417206#msg417206), but despite of the hideous postage fee the parcel's not yet arrived :tickedoff:
But hey, it's Friday! That's what counts :smitten:

Well, you'll be untroubled by any interference from Wildcats if nothing else.
Good luck on the painting. I broke out the paints and had a go at painting my fighter squadrons for Star Wars: Armada. It was my first painting foray in about 20 years. Although it didn't go anywhere near as well as I'd hoped it still wasn't all that bad considering. Odd that the eyes and hands don't seem as steady as they did when I was in my 20s...On the plus side, thanks to the deteriorating eyesight, the paint job doesn't look all that bad to me!
I just picked up Rise of the Tomb Raider and I'm hoping to get some time in on that but it's a working weekend unfortunately. Damned coordinator has dumped about a week's worth of rather unpleasant work on us and we're short staffed so it should be a delightful weekend.
I just got Madden NFL 25 for my son's old Xbox 360. If I can get the damn thing to work without selling my soul to Micro$oft, I'll be throwing that into the mix. I never could figure out how to get NFL2k5 to work on the 360. Wasn't helped much by the utter incomprehensibility of most of the threads Google turned up. Communicating articulately is a lost art, or else kids are speaking a different version of English these days. ::)
Sit back down on your rocking chair, grandpa, you're making a scene!
Just picked up Valkyria Chronicles cheap on Steam so I'm giving that a go though I'm not that keen on the anime style of it.
Probably also some more Warlock 2 and I've just started watching Isabel (Spanish historical drama about Isabella I) so maybe some EUIV as Castile if the font mods for the new patch are done over the weekend.
With the Elite servers down last night I took my Embriar Phenom 300 for another flight in Prepar3D. Went much better, mostly, then my last one. Managed to fly from Port Angeles International to Seattle Tacoma with no major incidents. Not used to flying jets so I had some issues bleeding off speed on my landing approach. Came in too high and fast and instead of going around for another pass I tried forcing it down and cratered myself into runway 34R. A minor crosswind didn't help me any either.
This morning I'm going to be playing more looking at houses with the it will probably get bought by someone else right after I look at it DLC. Rest of the weekend will be spent with some mix of Aurora, Elite, and more Prepar3D.
I've also been to the Shipwreck Museum on Whitefish Bay in the U.P. This song plays on an endless loop at the museum. I'm not complaining.
This weekend will be WiTP:AE vs. Geek. I'm mobilizing my Kangaroo Corps to try and stop his advance through Australia. They're named that because, well, Kangaroos are about all I have left. I'm sure I'll be visiting XCom: Long War off and on. I was cruising along until 3 of my 3 Snipers got killed in consecutive missions. No Snipers=No Love. I just fired up Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 3. I'll give that a run until some random bug crashes the game. That tends to happen with this title, which is too bad because this could be a very good game.
Lastly, my wife is making me brew beer this weekend. She's a slave driver I tell you.
Pretty much out of nowhere, I've been playing Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes and Distant Worlds: Universe the last couple days, so will probably continue that.
Man alive, I have been completely seduced by Madden25 on the Xbox. I have only been playing Madden08 on my PC since...2008, so the new versions of Madden have completely passed me by. So it was with trepidation and anticipation that I booted up Madden25 on the Xbox. I am simply blown away by how completely awesome the experience is!
I'm sure this is old news to you guys, but I honestly feel like I'm watching a real football game on TV. I'm playing it on my 55" TV down in my man cave and Bison is right, it is so liberating to be sitting on the couch with a controller in my hand playing games on the big screen!
So after goofing off with it a bit yesterday I started a season in as a custom coach (Toonces Cat) heading up the New England Patriots on their run for the Super Bowl.
Totally awesome stuff....I can't believe I'm a console gamer now.
It also has a mode where you play only as a player, and I goofed off with that a bit, too. It's pretty neat.
Madden rocks!
So Madden 25 lets you call plays and watch the results, or do you have to get in there and play them? Or is it optional to run plays, as I figure it is?
There was a game called Head Coach (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_Head_Coach) back in the day that I really, really wanted to like, but it was kind of boring unfortunately. I enjoyed the role-playing elements it had, though it wasn't enough for me.
Madden 06 had a 'Superstar' mode which was kind of cool too, where you played a rookie NFL player trying to make it big.
I wish there was a good NFL game that combined all of those modes and let you choose a path, picking any year you want to play in, and maybe lets you play as a player, perhaps becoming a legend, then maybe you move on to coaching on a team. Some kind of mega-dynasty football game.
Is M25 anything like any of that?
Except for passing the ball, any play you call is played out by the ai unless you take control of a player. As for the rest, I don't know.
And passing the ball is just a button press to indicate how you want the quarterback to operate and when (sort of).
(I forget how far back the Bro was playing Madden on the PC -- maybe 08 -- but I watched quite a bit of it. And we played NCAA on the PS3 against each other. I honestly don't know what the Head Coach game was supposed to bring that the main football franchises didn't already. Maybe it was meant as a paid beta demo for a few possible additions...? Bro looked into it and spat past it as superfluous.)
Played some:
- Birth of the Federation
- Tortuga (kids had lots of fun watching me fighting Pirates in this old game from Ascaron).
- Grand Ages Rome
- Civilization 5
Played some more of my HOI 2 as Italy. Was going to take Yugoslavia in 1941, but, the Germans beat me to it. The Japanese finally hit Pearl in February '42. The U.S. jumped in with the Allies and the Soviets declared on Japan later in '42. It's May 5, 1942 and I am going to take out Turkey. Greece and Spain are already my puppets. I plan to position myself to close off the Med if I throw in with the Germans or strike the underbelly if the Allies and/or Soviets break in to Fortress Europe.
Had an itch to play some Civ after listening to the Founders Grogcast. Chose the Rhyse and Fall of Civilization mod. I am Babylon. The Arabs burst on the scene and destabilized the area. Greece and Egypt have both been destroyed (Alexander by Augustus and Egypt by the Barbarians). The Russians are encroaching from the north and Persia has me hemmed in to my east. I have Iron (and Wine) and Copper, but, I don't have a powerhouse Production city and I am afraid I am going to get swallowed up by Saladin. We shall see.
Star Wars Lego, Ratchet and Clank, and Far Cry 3.
Field of Glory with Sauron, Ian C, and Gus (if he deigns to fight my Santa Hermandad of Castile (A sort of Christmassy medieval Spanish side)).
JTS FWW with Cyrano
JTS Vietnam - grinding through the Hue series of scenarios
Making History II as the Germans
Either some Combat Mission (probably go for Red Thunder), or Horizon
Final tally:
Three hours or so this afternoon continuing my Savage Lands test run. Wondered what I had been hearing last time; turned out I had been hearing a dragon haunting a local village. Found the village while hunting, and fortunately while the dragon was occupied elsewhere. I've cut down enough trees I can see the dragon in the distance now when he returns, though. He hasn't spotted my camp on the beach yet. Killed some skeletons and some young wolves; ran up and whacked a number of deer in the ass with a stone axe. I still have zero idea what a lean-to accomplishes: you can't get inside it. Built the lowest grade house, and nearly froze to death in it. Possibly I need more torches. Can't build a firepit in the house, which seems stupid. Came close to dying several times but I've pulled out by the skin of my teeth -- once by going out to hunt and forage berries in the dark of night. Accidentally tore up my starter clothes for rags, but I made bandages out of them. Have started slowly converting leather to my first leather armor set. More than halfway done building my first forge -- in this game, once you have enough materials to feasibly start (not sure how much that is, but evidently less than half), you can place a 'ghost' of the building (or respawn stick for that matter... I have a respawn stick now, too, made of human skulls) and then add materials to it whenever you want as you pass by until it's done. Tools can be repaired by partials, too: say my stone axe is about worn out, but I don't have any sinew. I can still repair a lot of it with other materials.
I won't be starving any time soon, but it's time to go hunting for more leather-and-sinew -- this time with my shiny new bow (and a few arrows).
Two turns of being murdered by Barth's Nazi goons in DC3: Barbarossa. Anyone who thinks mud only helps the Russians, is sadly, sadly wronnnngggg...
One whole day of Empyrion scouting around to find iron to make more ammo and a larger ship with. Unfortunately, the only two (out of five) deposits I found are in terrible places. Recovering will be a chore. Worse, I'll have to hunt more regularly, soon. Should consider researching stronger guns to build.
Zero seconds of Evochron: Legacyorwhatever actually played, but I finished the tutorial.
Finished upgrading my Asp Explorer last night. Only change I'll probably make before setting out into the unknown is ditching the shield generator for a rover bay. Where I'm going the shields shouldn't be needed, unless I run into aliens but I'd be screwed in that case anyway. Having a rover bay would allow me to mine resources from any planets I come across for replacement ammo for the repair field. Heading out light in terms of armament, just taking the default pulse lasers.

Spent this afternoon collecting bounties in a resource extraction zone. Upgrading my Asp pushed the re-buy cost up too 800k and I wanted a little bit of a nest egg in case something bad happens. Will be heading out on my grand expedition in the next few days.
^that's hawt!
