What are YOU complaining about!  You don't even play IV!  Why would you care if V was free?!

Heads Up:

Got an email from Impulse/Gamestop saying Civ 5 will be on sale this Memorial weekend for 75% Off.

I looked and the GotY edition is $12.95, the regular edition like $8.

EDIT:  I also see they're on sale from Gamersgate for the same prices!

Is Gods & Kings to be a standalone expansion?

If I'm understanding what you mean by "standalone expansion", I don't believe so.  None of the info I've seen concerning Gods and Kings has ever mentioned it being a standalone product..and that wouldn't mesh with the history of the Civilization games.  The base games have always been required for the expansions...

Whats the difference between Civ V and GotY edition.

CivV is just the base game, the GotY version has the base game plus all the DLC to date.

Actullay, it contains most of the DLC to date, but not quite all:

Includes the Following Civilization V content:
All 4 Cradle of Civilization Map Packs (Mediterranean, Asia, Americas, Mesopotamia)
Civilization Pack: Babylon (Nebuchadnezzar II)
Double Civilization and Scenario Pack: Spain and Inca
Civilization and Scenario Pack: Polynesia
Civilization and Scenario Pack: Denmark - The Vikings
Explorer's Map Pack
Official Digital Soundtrack

Looks like these are not included in the GotY edition:
Civilization Korea
Wonders of the Ancient World
