Ouch, granted I'm not a chanting flag waver taking my opinion from tv but really... that's a bit hollywood. I said everyone should have nukes not just Iran, not that they even want them. I just thought it was a cool story showing that sailors were helping each other out against pirates. My angle is to paint the msm in a negative light, coz they wont play this while there is profit in Iran as a bad guy, a boy do they need a bad guy now.

I don't think any behavior out of that regime can be predicted because its leadership is wildly unpredictable. So, when it comes to Iran's course of action if it obtains nuclear weapon capability, I'm not sure of anything. But like you, why the hell risk finding out?
All I know is Iran has threatened to "wipe Israel off the map" and "eliminate Israel from the pages of history." That seems like a pretty drastic action that can only be accomplished with WMDs. Iran, should not have them.

That's not quite fair... Canadians should have as many guns as they want in case the commies take the snowshoe route. Also, Scots need to be prepared for English aggression and the Flemish might want a few militia units in case the next referendum pokes a finger in the Francophone eye. We may want to consider arming Sealand as well and signing it on as an ally in case we need a base to counter Viking raiders.

There's been considerable cooperation between US and Iranian navies and sailors regarding open-ocean pirates, and considering the current political climate between the two countries, it's nice to see cooperation at the tactical level against a common foe, regardless of the political machinations higher-up.
I don't think that cooperative behavior among guys at the tactical level is indicative of any thaw in the positions of those in power, given their repeated and continual public statements of mutual non-admiration.
Will such ad-hoc naval cooperation lead to any sort of future political cooperation? I'm sure it won't directly, but history has demonstrated that repeated exposure to relatively free liberal* western democracy inevitably turns a tide in authoritarian regimes over time. Just not overnight. We can only hope.
