Title: Castles and Crusades Bundle of Holding is a Go!

While my personal playing time with C&C is somewhat short, I have always liked how they took the 3rd edition mechanic and scaled it back to reflect the more, "sparse," feel of 1st edition AD&D and that ain't half bad by me as I found 3rd edition to be one fiddly sumbitch with too much crap to deal with.  The Troll Lords always seemed like a good bunch of folks too.

Anyhoo, passing this on to you!

I'd never heard of this RPG before today.

It's been out for several years. It's a reboot of the original D&D. I've got the first edition books. Personally, I like D&D 5 better, but there's nothing wrong with having choice in the marketplace!

Yeah, the whole "OSR Movement,"  and later 5th edition kind of stole C&C's thunder in my opinion.  In some ways, it is kind of like Kenzer's Hackmaster where there is a dedicated core group playing it and not much else.

Granted, I could be wwwaaaayyyy off base with that last remark, but I just have never seen that much push for either C&C or Hackmaster in my neck of the woods.

C&C is the bomb-shizzle.  I've got a ton of their material at home and always enjoy reading it

Honestly it looks pretty interesting, but if I were to go back to 1st ed D&D styled rule set I'd just go with D&D.  I'm thinking of going through a process of collecting a full set of the manuals that I love just for the shelf.  I also may need to see a psychologist to get over the repressed feelings I have about a family member claiming and then destroying my childhood collection....man this thread just made me really sad.  :(

See if you can find the edition they re-released in the little white box that looks like the original 1974-era 1st-ed D&D :D

I actually saw one of those box things at Hastings a few months back.  RIDICULOUS!

I think I have one of the older Castles & Crusades Player's Handbook but I never could get into it. Probably because I had moved on to other systems like RoleMaster and HarnMaster after D&D went to the next version. I tried OSRIC for a while but it just didn't click either. I do like D&D 5E but am already starting to get burned out on it after running games for a little over a year now. I can't say why, I still enjoy it, it's just starting lose it's appeal for me.

There is a major sale for castle and crusaders on the troll website up to 50% off of C&C products.  I think it ends today or tomorrow.  http://www.trolllord.com
