As a long time fan of the Fable games, this is unfortunate news

Aw crap. :(
I love Fable The Lost chapters. What a real shame. Does that mean we lose Lionhead games we purchased on STEAM?
Big fan of The Movies game too. Anyone still play that? I had a LOT of fun making films back in the day.
It's a terrific series. They aren't perfect games but I enjoyed each of them.

The Movies is one of the many games I own, but have never played.

I love the movies... That is one game that is instant buy is it ever his GOG. It has an expansion too that I would like to pick up.
Well....as a dissenting vote; I thought the first, original Fable was nothing short of awful and never played any of its later iterations.
Well, I took it at face value and assumed it never truly existed.

You'll either like it or hate it.
However, it has an in-game movie maker, where you can make your own movies using animated characters. It can be hilarious, as you can record your own voice overs and they lip-synch. There are sets, costumes and characters to use and it can be hugely fun. Most of these are unlocked throughout each decade, but there is a mod to unlock everything.
The game was very popular for this, and there are tons of mods. If you like it, the Stunts & Effects expansion is also worth getting.
As Peter descended into psychosis (I mean this all but clinically) I wondered how long this would take.

I'd heard unconfirmed rumours about Lionhead being a not good place to be. What's the story behind this?
Peter's been gone from Lionhead for awhile.
The best account of Molyneux going Col. Kurtz is here:

Mirth is, of course, correct on the chronology, but Lionhead always struck me as Molyneux, for all the good and ill that suggests.
That's actually a good demonstration of RPS being fuckheads.
^OK, I will confess I had not heard this take, and certainly not so forcefully offered.
How so?
Jim
Have you read it? They're incredibly hostile to him, much more critical than they have been of Chris Roberts who, as I pointed out in a similar discussion a few months ago, has a considerably lesser legacy behind him than does Molyneux. I can't really defend Molyneux on Godus, but that's one game out of a huge number, games which are still being aped and are still beloved today. The interviewer clearly had an agenda from the beginning.

Truly dreadful, horrible.
Not sure what exactly was accomplished by this interview.
That was a really bizarre interview all the way around.
The interviewer obviously has an agenda over Godus (he probably paid for it and felt cheated it wasn't finished), but to me it comes across as really unprofessional and venomously vindictive. Then he repeats his frustration over and over. Not satisfied Peter is telling truth, he picks and picks. He sounds like a neurotic girlfriend.
The first question says it all:
QuoteRPS: Do you think that you're a pathological liar?
I know a few people who would be on the point of trading physical blows if that was the first question put to them in an interview.
It achieved nothing, except maybe sending an obviously over-stressed Molyneux into a depression or worse. I imagine him going home feeling like shit; and the interviewer (who remains anonymous) feeling really smug and pleased he'd 'stuck one to The Man'.
Perhaps it was this very interview that triggered a series of events, cascading like some dread catastrophe, that resulted in Microsoft taking the decision to close Lionhead.
Maybe, ultimately, it was all this interviewers fault.
We shall never know.
And now for a yummy sandwich.
I will not dispute that the interview was confrontational, but Peter Molyneux has a fairly well-documented record of over-promising and under-delivering on games while trading off his unarguably great early achievements. I cannot describe how excited I was by "Black and White" and heard all the promises made for the original "Fable" only to have the former collapse of its own weight and the latter slowly get hammered into shape in, what, it's third iteration?
"Godus" was only one of the disasters with which he was associated and I need not defend Chris Roberts to think him deranged.
Leaving RPS aside, this is a fun piece as well: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/feb/13/peter-molyneux-game-designer-interview-godus

Offhand, I'd say that interview came after the RPS one. Wow, what a drama.
