Title: Idlewilder's Introduction
Post by: idlewilder on March 19, 2016, 05:27:32 PM
Hi, folks! I was directed to this forum by my cousin MetalDog, lured by the promise of a 5E D&D game, but it seems like a fun place to hang around, regardless.

I'm a forty-something banker in Sarasota, FL, with interests in history, literature, and most topics of a geeky nature. The geeky inclinations I blame on MetalDog, who introduced me to Tolkien and D&D in the early 80s, but I've never held it against him  ;).

I may not be the most active of members, but I'm looking forward to participating.

Thanks! I used to hang out on a DC Comics fan fiction message board for many years, and really enjoyed the community aspect of it.

Yep, I'm from West Haven. MetalDog and I pretty much grew up together (but he's a year older and much better looking).

I don't know about movies, but my taste in fantasy lit is much better. I still break out in hives when he brings up Raymond Feist.  :idiot2:

Donaldson let me down hardcore with The Last Chronicles. I'm disillusioned now, like Hemmingway in 1920s Paris. It's sad, really.

I actually only read his Misplaced Legion (or whatever) series decades ago, and rather liked it. Never read his alternate history stuff, but I understand it's well-respected.

Yes, Idlewilder. You got it right Man. I'm in the great metropolis of Arcadia, Fl. where if it's not a cow or an orange, it don't count. The wife and I usually spend our anniversary on Longboat Key and I have a niece that sells real estate in Sarasota. A very nice city when they're not working on the streets, which is pretty much... always.
