Anyone else fire up Steam tonight and see... weirdness taking place?
I guess I'm not alone in experiencing all these unexpected updates:

Sounds like Steam is deleting games' redistributables...and then re-downloading (updated?) ones.
At least I hope that's what it is and someone hasn't completely hacked / hijacked my account :D :D :D
I had it running for a little bit tonight and it was acting wonky. Screens not loading correctly and such. There were a lot of updates installing too.
Yes. I am experiencing this too. It is peculiar.
same here
OK good to know we're all in the same boat, and that presumably these updates were intended by Valve... and not someone installing Trojans on my PC :)
Yeah. The good news is, it's Valve's servers that are getting slammed...
Same glad to see I am not crazy :)
I had eleven of my installed Steam games do an update. This could be the reason why: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/0/368542585856738122/ (http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/0/368542585856738122/)
Ugh... Steam and their screwy client. ::)

QFT.
Thank goodness recently I uninstalled most of my library so only had to update 8 games....just took a few minutes.
I was not online last night...should I panic?
Good God man, of course you should panic!
I wonder if this is related somehow to my Avast tools thinking Ghostbusters, and some other game I can't recall at the moment, had been partially uninstalled? ???
All my Steam games on The Presence at home got either updated or scheduled for an update last night; not sure they all got updated before I turned it off for bed.
I was dreading my Surface being locked down this morning (as its processors and download speed aren't anything like the supercomputer at home), but whatever happened appears to have been fixed: no mass redownload this morning.
Only issue I've had yesterday and again today is the inability to view my 'wish list'....it will not open. Not sure about games updating unless it happened overnight and I was unaware of it?
No game updates (only EUIV but this looks normal) but also unable to look at my wish list. I'm on a european server so that might explain the difference.
I didn't experience what the original poster mentioned when I logged on to Steam yesterday and only two games updated when I logged on this morning.
Funny enough, i wasn't able to launch steam games on my netbook yesterday evening....

This only happened during a specific period last night.
It happened on my notebook, which had been logged into the Steam client when whatever buggy Steam nonsense happened to trigger it.
It did
not happen on my desktop, which was not logged in until later on after my notebook had downloaded about 2GB of updates for 18 games.
Nothing wrong with the one that hadn't been running the Steam client at that time.Maybe there was some new Distro update, and Steam decided to brute force them all through, again, with it. But since my other computer didn't do it at all, I can easily assume it's just another Steam bug or employee pushing the wrong button.
Steam seems to be fine for me, except that I can't get into my wishlist either.
Not such a bad thing, as I really have no business buying anything right now anyway.

That's blasphemy around here :P
Can't access my Wishlist right now for some reason.
Everything seems to be working as it should again.
Gus can stand down from panic mode.
Yes, my Wishlist is back!
Hmm I only have 4 games updating...

Resume Panic Mode!
And they're done. I need more to panic for.
Got home this afternoon, a few minutes ago, and all the ones that didn't get updated last night are updating on cue.
If I recall correctly, one of the psuedo-updates last night was for 40K: Soulstorm, a game I was actually playing at the time of the update.
Out of curiosity, I checked my wishlist a moment ago, and things there seem fine.
My update was fast
Mine too...only 4 games total updated. Now I feel left out :(
I haven't opened steam in a month, I dread to think how many updates there are..
