They don't mention Strike Fighters Europe which does a pretty decent job of simulating the A-10. One of my favorites, especially with the Desert Storm add-on mods.

Yep, and they forgot Jane's USAF too which had the A-10 as well.
Damn. Now I really feel old. I killed plenty of tanks on my C-64 back in the day. And myself a few times.

You might feel old, yes, it has been quite an entertaining ride thru computer gaming, but i'd rather have my fond memories playing Dynamix and Microprose games from the late 80s and early 90s than playing angry birds or flappy bird on a "smart" phone. ;)
Just fired up the Strike Firghters 2 again because of this post. Though I flew the F-15
SF2 remains one of my favorite sims. It is not DCS or BMS and I'm ok with that. Sometimes I just want to jump in to a sim and fly. While it may not be the most accurate aircraft simulator it does a pretty good job of simulating eras and conflicts (esp. with some of the great mods out there.)
The beauty of SF2 is that you can come back after months and years without really studying the planes one more time. Plane equipment operation may be simple but it does simulate the feeling combat pretty well. Too bad the series died already.
+1 Jomni and Dr.Q...
Strike Fighters Vietnam was my go-to game for jet age combat flight sim for a very long time. Now that I have a better computer, maybe I will get something like DCS or Falcon 4.0 BMS, but damn I had a great time with Strike Fighters for a very long time.

I would recommend spending the few dollars it would take to go to SF2: Vietnam and check out the mods at www.combatace.com. You're new computer should run SF2 in all it's DX11 glory.
The A-10 was always my go-to plane, once unlocked, for most missions in Ace Combat 04, AC5, and ACZero; because, in the game engine, I could dogfight with it reasonably well, and it packed a bunch of mud moving for most mission related goals. (Keeping in mind that the Ace Combat series, kind-of-boringly reborn in the HAWX duology under the Tom Clancy label, is more about strapping a military plane on your back and being a superhero than about realism. ;) As an aside, apparently there's a HAWX board game or card game or something like that now, which makes my mind do a confused flip and fly into the ground... But it has a module on Tabletop Simulator.)
In fact, the final missions of AC5 require you to choose a single plane in the last four or five missions without any capability of switching for the rest of the game, which if you don't know what the missions are going to be can be lethal if you don't choose a broad performer. I routinely go with the Hog for the grand finale of naval action, air-to-air, city defense, tunnel diving, and destroying a space station being dropped from orbit on a city.
