Title: Where else do I post this?
Post by: GJK on May 14, 2016, 08:15:19 PM
"Disintegration" by The Cure was the album that I most associated with her.  I don't know why- she certainly never heard or listened to it but I had attached this one particular album to her.  It was on my play-list when I worked out.  I thought of the sweat, the sex, the....

I was married at the time but so very unhappy.  This particular girl had a crush on me and it drove me to infidelity.  I'm not particularly proud of that but the sex....oh my GOD, the sex....the passion.

What the f**k is the point of this post?  I dunno.  Maybe if you're having an affair on your spouse think of this album, though I don't recommend you doing it...it's haunted me ever since....but damn, it was intense....

Yeah, but it's fun to keep asking. Bourbon does that to me.

Exactly why for this great revelation.  Missing that passion - those secretive encounters...the sweat...those ti..... ts....

There is the reason why I didn't wargame for about 10 years.

Weird. as in six degrees of...

'Disintegration' was the album given to me by a CCU nurse I had a lengthy relationship with just before she decided to take a position with a traveling temp agency. She said she would be coming back after she worked out 'some stuff' and wanted the track 'Lovesong' to remind me of her while she was away. In retrospect the title track, "Disintegration', was probably the more apropos song on the album, with 'Fascination Street' being a close second as pertaining to her discovery of how the San Francisco night life compared to what she left back in small-town Connecticut.

She never came back...

Well it won't mean much to anybody else here but that album is my summer escape that I'll never forget.

I know that you all have similar ones..albums of songs that is...what are yours?

this is as good as any place to post something like this...  though if you're wanting to highlight the music, you could always drop it in the "music" subforum

Disintegration was the album that finally got me to like The Cure.
I used to put on Pictures of You any time I was working overnights at the radio station and dance in the hall since no one was around to see me

It's a cheesy ass silly 80's album but if you actually pick up the lyric, it's quite deep.  (see above).  If there wasn't alot of sex involved around this time I'd of never melded this one into my soul but since it happened, and it was, there it is.  Really a tribute this one is...one of my all time favorites only because it is and was during a very special time in my life.

You know, as an ex-serviceman who looked super freakin awesome in uniform (I bloody did!), I had quite a few relationships.

Two things I often think about

There was one girl specifically - I can't remember here name...I think it was Elizabeth - who lived in a little village called Croscombe. I was stationed at Colerne at the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Corps of Transport. We weren't allowed out for the first 3 months of our time at Colerne. On the second term, we went out at the weekends and had to be back by 8pm. It was on one of these excursions I met her.

I used to go into Bath and meet her and we'd go to a pub where we could get served (we were both 17 I think). I remember drinking Pernod and Black (blackcurrant). We both got drunk and I clearly remember the video of Van Halen Jump being on a big screen in the pub.

We wrote to each other every other day for the rest of my 8 months at Colerne and met up almost every weekend.

When I left Colerne, I was posted to Driffield in Yorkshire to finish my training and I met another girl and moved on from Elizabeth (if that was her name??).

I was never happy about what I done to her and I often look back and wonder what might have been.

I hope she ended up having a good life. She was my "first love" and likely nothing would've come of it anyway...but I always look back with fond memories at the number of letters I used to get. I remember where she lived. I was never there, but with the letters I can remember the address...strangely though, not her name. I was actually down Croscombe way a few years ago and just drove up the street that she lived in...not for any other reason than to visit the place I had never been.

Sorry - just thought I'd get that off my chest.

Hmmm. Makes me think of a couple of similar experiences. Just part of growing up, I guess.
