Title: Hail Hydra!.... urrr... I mean Go Captain America!
Post by: Tpek on June 01, 2016, 10:33:43 AM
I'm surprised no one was foolish enough to make a thread for this, so I decided to.

uh... now that we gave the title temporarily to Falcon, but he's hot at the movies again, what kind of silly attention grabbing stunt can we pull how can we make his character relevant again?

While the editor and writer say this is the new status quo and that this really is Steve Rogers, not a clone, not mind control, not an imposter, I'm going to bet the reality-warping girl who recently cured him of being old will turn out to be the reason ultimately. Being shot dead was going to be the new status quo, too, and well here we are.

(That said, since the crew says the plan dates back to 2014, I'm going to guess the inspiration came more from the Winter Soldier film, not a recently devised stunt. Just kind-of recently.)

The recent run of Captain America comics made good ol' Captain America, Steve Rogers, into a Hydra Agent.

The implication supposedly being that he has been a Hydra agent from day 1.

It is blithering nonsense, the comic book equivalent of flamebaiting. (I mean the plot, not Tpek's post.)

These "plot twists," get mighty damn old after a while - but I was there when the Phoenix died the first time, so count me as old and jaded, I guess.

-nothing is new under the comic sun-

And they just keep making up alternate universes. I have enough trouble with THIS one.

Is it too late for a refund on my copy?

I wish I could find the settings. I want to switch to "easy".

Aren't comic book and day time soap writers one and the same.

Not quite.

Though The Walking Dead was conceived and written as a never ending soap opera with a zombie apocalypse as a background (as the author himself noted in the first issue's preface).

Looks like Cap isn't a Hydra agent after all:

"...it isn't this, it isn't that, it isn't mind control..." -- As most of us suspected, the cosmic cube girl did it. I guess it doesn't count as "mind control" based on her intentions? Whatever those were?
