Title: Take Me Home Friday
Post by: OJsDad on June 16, 2016, 06:44:17 PM
Been on the road quite a bit the last few weeks and next week won't be any different.  I'm be heading home tomorrow, with a slight layover at Origins :).  This is the first time I've not been home for O and J's birthdays (O turned 16 (thank god she hasn't noticed boys yet, or at least admitted it dad) yesterday, J turned 13 (going on 21) today)

So, with a little help from Phil Collins, it's time to head home.

Bummer about the birthdays,i'm sure that sucks. Just came from my youngest boys HS graduation, oldest boy graduated last year, just my daughter left in 9 years. After friday i'm off work for all next week so i imagine i'll get some gaming in. Planning some 7 days to die of course, looking for that map reset, then im off to find the western town to base in, going to finally give Panzer Battles Normandy some time and some more Doom2 brutal doom: project brutality mod. Got my matrix coupon but cant find anything to buy, have everything i want so anything i get will be a stretch. Looking at the Order of Battle game but not sure about it, everything else i have.

Just watched my daughter walk at college.  End of an era.  Sorry you missed the birthdays.  I'm sure they will forgive you.  Especially if the presents are good ;)

My life will be a highway starting tomorrow afternoon.  I will be travelling to Origins to meet with the hoi polloi and cause a ruckus.  Can't wait to meet the Grogs that are coming.  I will try to make it obvious that I am the Dog of Metal, so, if you are attending, come up and say, "Hi."  Even if you haven't made yourself known on the forums.  I'd be glad to meet you :)

Yep, gave them a couple of presents before I left.  O got upgraded to a smart phone (Samsung S7) and J finally got a cell phone (yep, it's flip one).  More to come when I get back home.

Come on guys - play the rules. Rules are guy starting the thread sets the music  :P

OJ - superb choice of music there. One of my Fav Phil Collins songs - and he has many I'm a fan of. Bad news on missing the kids birthdays - but we do what we can.

I'm on a stag party tomorrow - but tonight? I might fire up more Hearts of Iron Iv - I had a bit of a blast with it last night. Stellaris keeps trying to call me back too. On Sunday, I expect F1 2015 will get my attention and at some point over the weekend Arma III will probably get an outing.

Perhaps I will fire up CAP2 again to see how things have progressed. The patches have been reasonably swift with 2 or 3 already released...but they have fixed some of the more glaring things I pointed out initially and also noticed in my second and third playthrough. But we'll see.

I've hardly touched Total War:Warhammer which is odd because on my initial playthrough after purchase I was very impressed by it - but I think I have splurged too much on games recently and so I simply have even more excellent games and not anymore time.

I bought Arma III Apex DLC yesterday and also Black Shark 2 which means I can finally stop the BS1+BS2 upgrade dance when wanting to install!

It's a great era for gaming - unfortunately, I haven't retired yet  :(

I plan to focus on testing Oriental Empires.

Couldn't help it and started the Reign of Augustus campaign in Grand Ages: Rome...i guess i'll play about 2 maps.

And of course watching some games of the EURO 2016.... :coolsmiley:

Congrats on your daughter MD, that is awesome!  O0

Have fun all at Origins, maybe some year I'll make it there.

I know the wife will be on me about updating the resume, but I'll probably try to sneak in a lot of World of Warships (researched my Fubuki finally, just have to earn the 9 mil to buy it), and maybe give HOI IV a good try.

I'm gone enough at times that the kids roll with it very well.

There are a lot of great songs about going home/traveling, that it was had to pick one.  But Phil Collins won hands down.  I don't mind the other songs posted.

Should get some 7 Days to Die in.  I need to get back into Stellaris, and maybe some EUIV.

Maybe some ARMAIII, definitely some Wars of Napoleon, and some Elusive Victory board gaming.

Hearts of Iron IV by far the most accessible and fun version of HoI I've tried, already played more of IV than III. Probably also The Longest Journey which I played to conclusion a few years back and really enjoyed, when I finish it again intend or carrying on with Dreamfall and then Dreamfall Chapters which I got free as part of the latest GOG sale and is what prompted me to go back and start the series again.

Stellaris - of course

Dead Island may get an airing; I started a campaign earlier this week and enjoyed what I've seen so far

Saints Row: The Third - I probably won't stop playing this until I've finished it, it's just insane fun

Grand Ages: Medieval - just picked it up this week so I might get around to it this weekend

Have a good weekend everyone!

Some Heroes of the Storm tonight so far...loading up HOI4 now. And that's probably the extent of gaming this weekend.

Beyond that probably not much. Taking a buddy out with a bunch of our friends for a belated 40th bday evening.

Father's day is also my littlest munchkin's 4th Bday so we will be celebrating her.

Hope to get in some more time in ACW 2. Where I've got Richmond in the grip of two Federal Armies when McClellan arrives-- that guy is ALWAYS late. Check-out the Screenshot section to see what it looks like. Love this game like Air Conditioning in July.

I feel your pain, Vintage Dude.  You can't wait for them to be old enough to talk to you and suddenly, they're old enough to be on their own :(

Having an absolute BLAST at Origins!!  It's total sensory overload.  I walked around the dealers room in a daze most of Saturday.  Got to meet Brant, Martok, Barthheart, Capt. Darwin, Panzerde, Cyrano, Jim Sterrett, Mark Walker, David Heath, and I am sure I am forgetting one or two.  It has been pretty boss.  I would HIGHLY recommend attendance if you have ever considered it.  So much so that, I was originally only going to attend this year.  Now, I am looking forward to next year.

When I got home Friday, my wife and kids had gone out, got my Fathersday gift, and assembled it ( with a little help from a neighbor)

I'll be a monkey's uncle if the fort shootout missions in Assassin's Creed - Black Flag are not the most fun gaming I've had in years. If you are a naval history or military history fan of any kind, try it out just for these missions. They're tough, but incredibly well done.
