Happy Father's Day to all Fathers and Muthas too. Though both my parents are long gone, they are not forgotten and almost every day I see something my Father would find funny as hell especially if it was something stupid I did. His greatest words of wisdom to me were, "There's not a horse that can't be rode. There's not a cowboy that can't be throw'd". My Father wasn't big on correct grammar but he knew his trends. Among them was correctly predicting Muhammad Ali would beat George Foreman for the World Boxing Title when nobody else on Planet Earth would make that bet. Not bad for a man that quit school in the 6th grade to work to support his family during the Depression and quit his militarily deferred job to join the Navy in WWII. A great man to have for a Father even if he left us way too early.

It's good you keep your mum and dad in your affections like that. :) I miss my dad too. I just wish he had lived long enough to get to know my kids. :(
Happy Fathers Day! Slash I think you're Dad was my Grandpa...he also quit school during the Depression to work and never stopped until WWII. Except he joined the Army :)
They were a tough breed back then Gus. My Father first tried to get in the army but was turned-down because of an irregular heart beat. So he went and joined the navy instead. "Their loss", He said.

He sounds a bit like Audie Murphy, turned down by the Army, Marines, and the Navy. Eventually the Army took him when his sister lied about his age! A tough breed and in good company with your dad too. O0
I wish somebody would re-do Audie Murphy's story for today's great un-educated masses.
