Nope, also not kidding.
Yep, unlike the pretty faithful but... um... sporadic-quality Dragons of Autumn Twilight movie I stumbled onto the other day (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=17307.0), this is a faithful well-produced animated film. Well-produced on the scale of a Disney TV animation from 2012, I mean -- but with anime level hard PG-13 violence. Some great design work; a reasonable origin story for the classic Gold Key Old West Indians vs Dinosaur stories (instead of a training teenage brave and his badass uncle simply stumbling into the area and being unable to find a way out after an earthquake). Cheap at Amazon, free (illegally) at various safe video sites I won't link to. ;) The vocal work isn't much better than average, but it's solid.
You're welcome. O:-) But my monkey's paw has run out of fingers, so...
Oh, I forgot the Amazon link to the dvd: https://www.amazon.com/Turok-Son-Stone-Various/dp/B000ZBEOGK
The cover art is a bit meh, but ignore it.
I loved Turok when I was a kid. He was cool before being Indian was cool, and then being called that wasn't. The guy never missed a neck-shot with his poisoned arrows-- where'd he get the poison? And killed about a million T-Rex's. No wonder they went extinct. I still got some comics around here somewhere. I wanted to go help them get out of the Lost Valley. My Mother loved him too. Because I went to sleep when she read the comics to me.
I remember him from the Image Comics reboot in the early '90s, and the book just never grabbed me. They never seemed to be all that good as stories.
The few Image comic reboot sequel stories I read (theoretically in continuity with the original) were pretty awful. All the worst 90s.
Original Generation Turok, though, was legit. Clearly someone at Gold Key said, "You know who's awesome? Tonto. He's like Kato levels of competent. He could be fighting dinosaurs and I'd believe OMG I HAVE AN IDEA!! What if Tonto was the hero, fighting dinosaurs, with an apprentice?!"
And yep, I clearly recall reading at least one issue where they explained the source of the poison for Turok and Andar's arrowtips: a common but dangerous plant.
Whoops, forgot the link to the Amazon DVD (but as noted the movie can be found safely for free with a little searching). Link added to original post now.
