Ok, for our UK Grogs. What the hell is up with the your Queen and her purse. What in the world does she have in there that she always has it on her arm. Is she afraid Harrods won't allow her to write an IOU if she decides to pop in and get the great grand kids a gift. But it get's worse. In the picture today with the new PM, in the Queens own palace, she had it with her. What, is she afraid one of her retainers will still it. For that matter, what about Prince Philip. He only had one real duty and that was to produce an heir. That duties well past him now, so surely he could hold her purse. Cripes, any guy that has gone clothes/shoe shopping has ended up holding their purse, so he has nothing to be embarrassed about.
Oh, I know. She's carrying that IPOD Obama gave here when they first met. She just cannot part with. Or is her security so iffy, that she carries a handgun, just in case.

My grandma always carried this heavy ass purse wherever she went. You could want the most random thing and she'd have it in her purse. When she passed, I put her purse on a bathroom scale just out of curiosity. 36 pounds. No wonder the poor dear slanted a bit sideways.
I will NEVER carry a woman's purse. Once my wife asked me to hold her pocketbook and I just picked her up with it and said, "Where do you want it"? I thought the Queen kept her Prince Charles Repellant in her purse in case he tried to charge the throne.
on the diplomatic parquet the purse of Her Majesty the queen is a tool which she use to silently communicate her mood to surrounding persons and especially her chief of protocol.
if the person may be aware of it also to the actual discussion partner from a delegation, for example a lower rank person that just get introduced to her ... but its also signals Her Majesty mood when speaking to the highest ranking visitors, like presidents, dictators, obscure African "kings", and chancellors, even so she can often not shorten or prolong those political planed to the second and unavoidable audiences.
